Equitation class-junior and senior-what do you do please?

You'd probably be best asking the secretary - the same name can apply to three different class types that I know of. And there are probably more!

In the US an equitation class is the equivalent of the UK Jumping and Style. So a round of show jumps with part of the mark on leaving the fences up and part on how you ride. Just because you are in the UK (Or might be) doesn't means they won't apply this definition.

A Pony Club equitation class is closer to combined training with the rider being expected to perform a an abbreviated dressage test and jump a cross pole. Not quite Prix Caprilli - but similar.

But I have also seen the term applied to what I would call a best rider class - a showing class judged on the rider.

So - best to ask really!

An equitation class i meant to be judged on the skill of the rider, and how they handle their horse.

I've never seen an equitation class in the UK have jumps in it.

The judge will often give you a set show, but have one prepared in readiness, you want to show trot and canter on both reins, included extended trot and canter if this will show your horse in a good light. Again if established include a rein back or turn on the forehand if you can.
