I may be doing an equitation class in 2 weeks and, having never done any kind of show before, am quite nervous. I have been told that I have to do an individual show but have no idea on what to do/what they look for. It is really experiance for me!!!

Can anyone point me in the right direction regarding my individual show please.

Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For an equitation class the judge may ask for a specific show - last wk I was asked to show three figure eights - one in sitting trot, one in rising, one in canter and anything else I wanted to add. However, the judge may also say "do what you want". In that case, do a short, simple show to demonstrate walk, trot (both reins) and canter (both reins). Add a rein back if your horse is good at this but not if it is inelegant. Halt at the end and salute the judge like a dressage test. Try to show your horse's good points and make sure there are no elementary mistakes like trot on wrong diagonal or canter on wrong leg. Good luck, hope you have fun.

If you are cantering a figure of 8 are you allower to trot in the middle to change legs?

It may sound a stupid question but I have never done anything like this before!!!

yes, come down to trot to change legs in canter. I was in a show recently where someone did canter-walk-canter and the judge marked her down for it. Don't panic if you do canter on the wrong rein, just go back to trot and ask again until you get the right lead, and the judge shouldn't mark you down too much.
