I'm buying my first trailer and have a dilema. Hope you can help me decide :-)

My horse is BIG! 16.2/3hh ISH x WB and very long bean - 6ft9/7ft rug and I have tried him in a HB506 and with a right hand ramp he catches his stifle coming out. He's a good loader and traveller so that's a no-go as he is starting to rush/panic and can't risk it. He needs to be a happy boy.

So looking at HB511 with a left hand ramp. A friend at my yard has a HB403 for her 17hh boy and my lad fits in OK. He still finds exit front ramp a bit tight but much better than HB506.

His previous owner had Trail Treka L and I really like idea of side ramp and extra space/storage with tack locker.

They are expensive at 5.5-6k new but have read questionable comments on build quality and chasis but also problems on new IW too!

Confused.com now!

Going to view a HB511 and HB403 tomorrow morning. Have viewed a Trail Treka and thought build quality looked OK.

Views? Thanks.

Have they fixed the axle problem with the equitrek yet?

I chose the ifor Williams for my 17.2 ( sadly passed on now) and its fab.

Make sure nose cone on IW is metal not fibre glass had problems with 506 fibre glass front coming apart from sides, new 511 is metal nose cone and great.

Do you have any licence restrictions which could lessen your choice such as only having B or do you have B+E ?

Throwing another in the mix, have you considered a Bateson? I've been looking around at trailers recently & was debating between a ifor 510 or a Bateson. I've tried her in both & she also comes off better with a left hand ramp which the Batesons seem to have as standard xx

All affected axles have been recalled and replaced. It was a part issue from the axle supplier rather than a design issue!

Tommismum is that the equitrek you speak of???

Looking at trailers at the minute and love the trail treka with tack locker and side loading option.
