I have just sold my lorry as it wasn't getting used enough to justify the costs. I have been looking at getting an Equitrek Space Trekka which has the grooms area at the front. What are your opinions on these trailers?
I know they are heavy but I have a Landcruiser to tow with.

My friend had one until one of us had to travel with a foal in the back ... it gives the horse the most uncomfortable ride and rattles and bangs over every little bump.
We didnt realise it was like this till then as we were impressed with how it tows in the test drive never gave it a thought about the horses.

We have one and we think it's brill. We travel all over the place with mares with foals at foot, youngsters etc and they have never sweated up or ever had a problem with it. We go to ireland alot in it to pick up ponies and they travel really well in it. The ramp is nice and low and wide for them and i think it's lovely and light and airy inside, very inviting for horses Thats just my opinion anyway.

I have one because my horse can only travel facing rearwards. I find it incredibly easy to tow but I do have a Ford Explorer which has a huge engine. The only bad thing I feel about is that there is not enough air circulation inside for my fella. He gets quite hot travelling and there is only a small window and the roof thingy. Other than that they are superb

Well we have just bought one as we are looking for a lorry and havent found one yet so this is an interim thing. My mare wont travel in our Ifor with the partition and we now need to travel two so we borrowed one of these - a 5* - the big one and I was amazed that she went in and travelled absolutely fine. Loaded the other horse up and she was perfect.
We have bought the star one and it is big I must admit but I wanted the bigger living with a toilet in.
Try one first, contact your dealer, they will let you borrow one.
I was amazed she travelled so well in it.
As far as somebody saying they rattle in the hrose area, it is the partitions but if you put some rubber sleeving on them this stops. Anyway, you should travel in the back of some lorries and hear the noise!

We have just got one recently, like you there was not that much point of getting a lorry as it would hardly be used in the winter, we got one as my worker would not travel in a trailer, , it is great we have travelled our 11 month old foal in it and mine, a 16hh and a 15hh in it, my mum says it tows v.easy, sturdier than the ifor mum thinks, i love it, it is also quite easy to clean, you can also move the partition across which has proved handy. the grooms area at the front is also very handy, hope that you find one! Hannah

whp08, can I ask what your worker did in a normal trailer please? Sorry to hijack post but tried to pm whp08 but not accepting.
Ive had problems with my horse and trailers, will load but cant keep him in one so tried to load in an Equitrek too and was having none of it, whacked his head on the lip above where the ramp meets the body a few times and friend decided enough was enough (it was her new trailer so cant blame her) but will load and travel in a wagon great.
I dont justify a wagon but will be in the position to buy one soon but it is stupid really as it will hardly get used.

they are amazing, really love my equitrek, wouldnt have another make of trailer. My horses travel lovely never had any issues. even my mare that had travelling issues now travels like a dream. Ihad the show trekka and have upgraded to the Star trekka for the bigger living, wish wed bought this when we sold our wagon.
highly recommend going to a dealer or the main guys direct, very helpful and will let you test drive one of the trailers to see what you think before you buy.

I had a Sports Treka which I loved and now have a Show Treka. They tow well, the horses load easily and travel well in them, the extra space is a real boon. I've overnighted in the living and it's quite acceptable! I've also travelled in the back of mine for a few miles and didn't notice it being any noisier or bumpier than an Ifor.

I know a couple of people with one and I know that one of them hates it! Apparently her one is badly made and parts keep falling off it! She may have got a dodgy one though. TBH Id stick with my Bateson Ascot - brilliant trailer.

I love my space trekka. My mares 17.2h and still has loads of room in it. Also its much easier to load on your own.

The earlier trailers did have problems with their finish and quality of parts so try and get the newest one your budget allows.

I went to bearts of stowbridge for mine and they couldn't of been more helpful. Adjusted my tow bar free of charge and the 2nd hand trailer I brought looked like new.

I agree about the lack of windows that come as standard, mines got several extra and air flow is great.
