I'm toying with the idea of, in the future, possibly selling my 7.5t lorry and getting a trailer with living instead.

So what do I need to know? What are the differences between all the models? Would need lots of space in the horse area as one of my horses is very long!

How big is the living? Is there a decent amount of storage space to keep everything, or do you end up storing things at yard and packing it in car when you go out?

Thank you

You could always have this ....

3.5 tonne horsebox towing a 750 kgs caravan !!

PS - that is legal on a B licence for anyone interested

Thanks for the link.

Would be great to get some thoughts/opinions of people that have them, or have maybe made a change from a bigger lorry to one!

Ha ha - great minds ;) this is exactly why we bought the 'monster truck' as I'm planning to swap to an equitrek in the not too far distant future.
Re the models, I will proob have around the £5k mark to spend so am looking second hand. I don't really need extensive overnight living, more somewhere to make a cup of tea and as much storage as I can. I've been keeping an eye on ebay, and can get some older second hand star trekkas for around £6000-8000, or the smaller ones with less living for £4k-6k.
I'm lucky though as Roo although tall is not long at all so might even get away with the 2x16.2h one!

I had the big one, travelled a 17.2 and 16 hand in it no problem up and down the motorway all over the country. Downgraded from a 7.5t lorry. Never used the living, but it had a wardrobe, toilet. full oven and hob. Plenty of storage and tack lockers, plus hosepipe. We towed it with a landcruiser amazon. You must remember how long you are though. We were longer than some HGV lorries and definitely much longer than my 7.5t that had living in it. I loved it and would definitely have another one. Ramp was easy if you were on your own and horses travelled fantastically well in it. To be honest if i had another one i would probably go for the one down from it which my auntie had, it had bunk beds in it and a hob, again had the tack lockers, just not so long.:o

I have the Space Treka L and I am very pleased with it. The horses seem to enjoy travelling in it and i have a tack locker and loads of space in the day living at the front for all the stuff we take to shows. We have a box bench in there too. I wouldn't swop back to a lorry now due to the high maintenance cost of a lorry.
The only thing I intend to do is to have the breast bar fixings modified so it is collapsable - I think they are made that way now but mine is a few years old.

I loved my Space Treka L but have done the reverse to you as needed to upgrade to a lorry for payload (have big monsters!). However, I would say that my horses travelled like a dream with lots of space but I had to put in extra roof ventilation.

However the build quality of my Equitrek was not as good as some other makes. I had to get an axle replaced and had issues with the ramp spring.

My local dealer was a good chap and he was getting fed up with Equitrek at times with their build quality and all the silly things he had to keep fixing....

Not sure how their prices had held, but I sold my four year old SpaceTrekka L (which had a lot of extras - 2 lockers, rug racks, extra window and roof ventilators and storage bench in living) for approx 5k a couple of years ago with a full service history with a recent service and two new tyres. The purchaser also got the full service history of the trailer so they could see all we had done.

They would be brilliant trailers if the build quality was better.

I have the older Sports Trekka which ironically I am thinking of swapping as I haven't got anything big enough to tow with.

I love the trailer though, it's got two big lockers, one for tack and one for general stuff. It also has a living at the front with seating, a table, hob and sink.

My horse travels really well in the EquiTrek and seems to like it as much as I do.

Laroxes, would be interested to hear what you would sell yours for?
Is the sport trekka the one that's designed for 2 x 16.2hh? I'm not sure how restrictive those dimensions are! We def have the pulling power for any of them, have a defender.
