Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience riding in ErgoX2 saddles?

I am a jumper but all my fitter had at the time was a dressage option to try. It felt like it secured my position well and my legs remained very still. However, I've had this feeling in other dressage saddles years ago too.

How much of this is that it was a dressage saddle (i.e. different shape from a jumping saddle so, of course, puts your leg in a different, more straight position), and how much of it is that it is an amazing saddle for rider balance?

Secondly, how good are they for your horse really? By "making" the rider be in the correct balance rather than the riding doing it, does it compromise horse fit at all? On their website, it shows a picture of one of their sponsored rider jumping and it lifts WAY off of the horse's back during take-off - which I was always told to believe is indicative of poor fit. If that's the case with their sponsored rider what will it be like for us amateurs?

When you click on "Does ErgoX2 fit your horse?" link on their website there isn't even any information about horse fit which concerns me further.

Also, I have been told by two people now that the prices on their website are much lower than the final price tag (e.g. a friend said the saddle online is $3800 but when she got the estimate from the rep it ended up being $5800 with NO special additions or leathers). I'm not opposed to the higher price - I have always ridden in french saddles so understand they are an investment but do they hold up as well as Buter and Bruno Delgrange?

Anyway, I am just wondering what others have experienced with these saddles.

Thank you!!

I bought a jump saddle earlier this year. Haven’t had it long. But I’m very happy with it so far.

It feels very secure. The horse certsinlylikes the stability it gives.

I’m a lover of French saddles, but they’re too narrow in the twist for me and often aren’t open enough in the gullet for the horses. The ergo ticks the French feeling, but for me improves on it.

I haven’t jumped in it yet - not personal to the saddle. I’ve just been working horse on the flat and hacking to help strengthen him up.

I’m a fan, but am not yet a long term user.

I want to answer this properly and won't have time till this afternoon. The only thing I'll comment at the moment is that the company, and brand, is very small and anything in English on the website has had to be translated by them and they have very little time, as always the way with micro companies! Also that I looked for a second brand to fit for 9 years....seriously...then I saw Maria Hallring posting about her philosophies on the horse-saddle-rider equation and I got in touch.

OP are you in the US or Canada?

I only tried it once when I was test riding a horse before purchase. I thiiiink it was a Confidence (but can't really recall). What I do recall is that I almost fell off and it wasn't something the horse did, but completely the saddles fault. Very uncomfortable and I really struggled with finding my balance in it. Was rather surprised actually that I would hate it so much. With that said I think they actually measure the rider and horse when fitting the saddle for the both of you, so it could just have been that that specific saddle didn't fit me as a rider. In my humble opinion though I find them overhyped and overpriced, I think there are better saddles out there, but like always with saddles you have to try it yourself and form your own opinion 😊

They definitely do need to fit you as a rider. When trying them it was very obvious when we had got it right for both of us 😊

They are absolutely fitted for the rider, optimising and stabilising the rider makes more difference than you can ever imagine, it's a completely different concept. Thanks @GinaGeo, I've worked out who you are 😄

I would say that really @Peregrine21 you need to go back to the fitter with your questions about the fit for you and the horse. The brand is very new to the UK and North America so you're not going to find many people outside of Scandinavia that have ridden in them. I find my customers get and love the concept, or they don't, and go elsewhere.

I suspect your friend might be comparing Swedish prices from their website with what other countries need to charge - shipping, duty, exchange rate etc needs to be added. Even huge corporations have different prices in different countries reflecting wages, cost of living etc.

There are no sponsored riders - "ambassadors" bought their own saddles, and the website is really for Sweden only, any English content is a bonus, and a work in progress.

You'll also find lots of information about the saddles on my FB if you track me down.
