Erm..Numpty question, How do you close down your account?

I don't think that you can and I'm not sure that you should. This recent stupidity is only one of the regular blips on HHO and like all things, this too will pass. :)

EB don't go, just take a break from some of the stranger threads/posts. HHO seems to go through times like these - maybe it's the autumn equinox approaching.

I was actually thinking the same, logging out isn't the same. I'm fed up with the bitches on here to put it simple and found a nice forum where they tell you how things are/ what u should do etc etc BUT in a stright forward manner without the nasty unwanted comments which you get with this forum. So if you can't close the account I will be logged out as from tonight.

Hi Monsters,
Can you tell me what that forum is please?
Ta
Flix

EB, Please don't go. I know I've not posted many times, but I have lurked on here for ages (its quite a scary forum).
At the ripe old age of 47 I decided to buy my first horse, and I have found your wealth of knowledge and expertise invaluable. You do say it how it is and this is a good thing I think.

I dont think you can.

Why not just log out and give HHO a rest for a week or 2?
At least then you can see if you miss it / want to come back and you wont have deleted your account.

what is the difference?once you have logged outyou can only lurk, no bad thing, and its not really an account anyway, not to you. i think logging is the best of both worlds, you can return should you want to or never darken its doors again!!

Sorry should have answered sooner. I was just wondering how went about it, although I've been tempted a few time, but not known how to got about it. I've had a few slaps on the wrist just lately, one I can understand about as I did lose my rag a little, but what my age etc:- had to do with it I don't know, the rest had me seething and being told I've been rude or nasty, which is the last thing I've meant to be, just seems I cann't be honest in my opinions or they take the way I'm trying to say things as having a go at them:(:(
So when you think of it, Your damned if you do, or damned if you dont, if you see what I mean.:(:(

Crikey EB you are made of more back bone than this!!! Get a grip, we havent always seen eye to eye, I would be dissapointed if you left though, keep going! Not many of our age on here anymore.

I know Pastie2, but my back bone is starting to creake and I've realised that most youngsters don't want advice just agreement with what they want to hear. And I get fed up with people saying poster are nasty or rude, when it's just down to common sense most of the time, you cann't tell how other people take what you say, when to you, you are saying as you see it or have done it down the years. I enjoy adding to some of the posts which are humourus, but am now starting to back off when someone asks for advice, which I could give a serious answer too but daren't:(:(:(

I got told I was "nasty" one day because I explained that I couldn't understand someone's post because it was in text speech with no punctuation whatsoever! I wasn't being nasty, just honest! I couldnt' understand what the girl was on about.

IMHO quite a few of the really individual and unique characters (and I mean that in a good way) seem to have disappeared off the scene. I won't name names obviously, but I do think that their absence has sadly detracted from the forum.
I thought that a forum was about debate and opinions as well as help and advice.

believe you me, i know exactly what you mean, i have been in the same situation and had bannings and infractions for it all there are so many younger posters on here now i think we oldies are out of touch!

Rosie I wouldn't say we are out of touch horsewise, just that youngsters expect things on a plate so to speak. I've always done my own horses, even before we bought our land and stables, which we've worked hard on for the past 26 years and most of the landwork by hand and the horses we've owned over the years have always found us if you know what I mean, they've come with problems and stayed till old age has taken them. I was always taught than with most things DR GREEN was best, specially leg problems but things have moved on and it seems I haven't.

i know what you mean, times have changed so much, and i refuse to change with them- i started riding at 8 or so, and worked indifferent equine jobs all my life, i realise one never stops learning but refuse to be snubbed by teenagers who have attitude.no doubt this is why i have put myself in the firing line so many times- dont log out, we need senior citizens!!!(joke-)

So, EB, you've obviously got a wealth of experience which a lot of people could benefit from. I have to say that I don't think that there is any real problem with 'telling it like it is', it's just that you do have to word things in such a way that you make your meaning clear, without descending to insults (which I've never seen you do).
I will say that I know that this comes more easily to people who are used to writing reports about people who will see those reports, at work. I don't know what your work is or even if you do work, away from your own land.
I do think that it is a shame that well-meaning posters are being made to feel uncomfortable. In your position, I think I would just take a break for a while and maybe come back if you find that you miss us.

I think the trouble is ladies that we live in the world of itsallaboutme.com

Some people only ever want to hear what they want to hear.

Take a deep breath, nothings worth the stress.

Logging off is not the same as closing your account just means your not automatically logged in when view the forum, if you contact admin they will close your account for you.

Don't let others forum members drive you away for what ever reasons, just learn to grow a thick skin, bite you tongue a few times and step away from keyboard and have one of Mrs Mozarts Hot Choccies :D

I have been a member for over 9 years now and in all that time there have been many times like these where people get upset and leave and then it all settles down again. I have got bored with it before and just not read it, I don't understand the point of closing an account as it won't stop you reading, only you can do that. It is such a shame that some of the oldies can't or don't post any more but that is just how forums are.
