Evening all!

Does anyone have some recommendations for smart riding/competition gear for a shortie like myself?

Am looking into maybe nice shirt/jacket/beige jods etc so I can look at least a little bit presentable when I ride, and for any shows we have at the yard. :D

Only problem is I have *ahem* funny measurements :o

On the top, 42", but need more room to, er, accomodate certain things!

On the bottom, waist is 32" but I have a 29" inside leg! Even with a few more inches added on to length to allow for jod boots, I'm still little

I am also of limited funds :o

Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated!

T_G xx

P.S. Hope the sunshine has reached you all, I've been slowly roasting by the seaside with family, now back in lovely London :D

i've got E cup boobs (not trying to brag) but it makes finding some t-shirts that cover past my navel difficult! i've still not found a solution but if and when you do find one please feel free to let me know because i just keep buying clothes in a larger size :(
and regarding leg sizes, i'm 5ft 5 and have a long upper body with stumpy legs. my inside leg is 30 inch :'( but i buy tesco jods (utterly indestructable ;) ) and cut the excess off that the bottom and sew it up!
make do and mend :D:D:D:D:D

Well, if you went for a stretchy top, cotton is fine (you cant see it under a jacket anyway). Do you have a school uniform? You could use a white school shirt and a tie, stocks look better IMO, and can be bought quite cheaply.

What about breeches? They are shorter, and as long as you ride in chaps it doesnt matter about boot length. (wear long-ish socks too ;))

P.S - I'm the one that added you on fb :o

jodie :) - I'm FF ;) It makes clothes shopping SUCH a nightmare! Might try just chopping of some nice beige jods - just gotta find some that fit now!

ChloeC418 - Might do that tbh, as I religiously wear my suede chaps! Hehe, I did wonder who that was! *waves*

JoBo - I shall have a look, maybe theres a sale somewhere! I find jods ok, I'm lucky that London's Only Tack Shop have a discount rail for jods, but never seem to have cheap beige ones!

would second jobo on fuller fillies - I have the tweed jacket and it is the best jacket I have ever bought - fits perfectly and really comfy and for a tweed jacket was pretty reasonable at £120 - search e bay as they quite often come up on there :)

I think eBay will be my best friend!

I don't really want to buy a particularly expensive jacket (absolute MAX of £40) as I mostly just wear jods, t-shirt, jod boots and suede chaps when I ride. The 'show outfit' would only come out if there was clear round, mini comps, I wont be showing every week!

Try Fuller Fillies: they have brought out long show boots and have lots of gaiters in short/wide/regular etc. Mountain High Rider do short long boots IYSWIM-very luscious!

Try searching for a Dublin 'Canberra' hacking jacket on Ebay. They are a decent budget show jacket I think.

Ooh, I'll go look now! Thankyou :)

Look into getting breeches instead of jods. They are cut much more nicely and have a shorter leg as standard.

It's all I wear now.

Might be a good idea, I'm so little I struggle to find jods that dont swamp me :o I just about fit into the largest kids joddies on the sale rail :D

I'm ok boot-wise, have some lovely 'Hacked Off' black leather jod boots, and black suede half chaps, I don't know how I managed to squeeze into long rubber riding boots!

I am in that category too :(
I am a diddy 5'1" a size 16-18 on top due to my DDs *lol* but 14 bottoms and pixie trees for legs!
Jods I can live with but long boots that go round short wide legs dont exist and jackets that fit my boobs drown me everywhere else and I lose my hands entirely!!! I feel your pain...great links though everyone, and thanks from me too. :D

Yep, deffo breeches rather than jodhs. I am also of the 29" inner leg variety (but not so sizeable in the boob department, unfortunately for me :( )

For tops, you could get one of those Toggi extreme ones with the shirty-insert but the rest is like a polo shirt (although I don't actually know if they still sell these?) I love mine as it's sleeveless and super comfy so ideal for hot summer days: http://nagsessentials.co.uk/products/Toggi-Extreme-Sierra-Ladies-Coolmax-Stock-Shirt-ICE-.html

or you could get one of those bib type things that just sticks on top of a normal t shirt, although I've never tried one of these so can't exactly recommend it - added bonus, nice and cheap!

The first thing that came into my mind was, "Us boobalicious girls should stick together?!" The stuff that my head comes up with...

I had Aigle long rubber boot, and they worked ok, but were quite a job to take off! If you dont like those, or joddy boots, apparently Fuller Fillies do some really nice long boots.

Thanks for the link!

Hehe, you can have some of mine, they just get in the way! ;)

I am a size 10 shortie.........

I swear by the following:
Equitech sports bra to keep the puppies under control lol
Caldene or Dublin or Equitech jods
Pikeur show jacket
Mountain Horse Ladies Calibre long boots with instep - fits my short leg while raising foot and zips up on my muscley calf!!

careful with buying jackets off the internet - as with everything, different cuts fit different people! Personally, I do not fit most dublin jackets as they tend to be quite long and thin. I have a Tagg kid's show jacket, but I think I got the max size - 34"? It's a good length, though, and I'm only 5'4-5" :)

Someone posted a link to a site where you can buy made to measure jodhs and they weren't expensive.

I'm fairly sure that it is the same lady who made me a lovely pair when I was about your age and having the opposite problem (tall skinny teenager, sadly not skinny any more) they lasted years, in fact they are still in good nick but I can't get into them anymore!!!

I'll try to find the link and post it.

I've never met a "plus size" rider who'd fit into kids' jods, so count yourself lucky!! I'm only 5 foot, size 16-18 on the bottom, 16 on the top. I only wear breeches, never jods because i have to roll them up so far, and even my breeches come right down to my ankles!

Fuller Fillies are OK, but if TBH, if you can fit into kids' jods, you can get by in "normal", cheaper brands. Try on different brands as they are all varying sizes as well! I like Caldene Belgrades and Mountain Horse breeches, as they are nice and stretchy.

Mears jackets are good for ladies who need a bit more room "up top".

mja - Hehe, def think I need a sports bra :D

rebchico - Thats a good point! Will have a scout round my local Tack Shop, and try before I buy, so to speak :)

Katt - Thanks for the link, I'll have a look!

trundle - I'll def take a look at those jackets :D

If you can find some cheapish jods that fit your leg and waist width, but are too long, just take them to your nearest clothes alterations shop to get taken up! I do this all the time! Get lovely stuff from charity shops and get them taken up as im a shortie too :)

Usally doesnt cost much and done properly, im a rubbish sewer so dont mind paying a few quid! ;)

Joddy-wise I'm ok, its shirts and jackets I have the most difficulty with :D

Might take a trip to the fabled Catlips second had place!

Try fuller fillies my mum lived in their stuff!
BUT search for it on eBay....half the price!!
:) Have same problems with show clothes as have big chest and can't find show shirts that will fasten over it without being baggy :( also have big calves so my show boots tend to get a little stuck! (I have the long boots for senior classes) ah I miss the days of jodhpur boots!! - have you tried the little jodhpur clips that you attach to either side of your jods and put under your boots? I seemed to find if my jods were too long I rolled them under and attached the clips and it made them a little better fitted.
We will all get there!! K x
