Ernest Dillon reins for BSJA?

I use them on and off (ie. not all the time) and just for schooling as I have a habit of changing my rein length a lot! I do the same when jumping so I thought they might help. I havent found they make me heavy handed, I find they're better as they dont let me allow the horse to lean on me. I guess it depends on any bad habits you have!

If you read to the bottom of that link you posted it says that they're legal in all BSJA showjumping competitions and event showjumping.

Never seen these before - might see what my instructor thinks as I am constantly being told I have no contact.

It would appear so but since he singles out only the showjumping phase of eventing then I'd guess they're not dressage legal.

Could have been done with these in my "dressage" lesson last night to have something to hang onto!

I have used them in dressage competitions - and they are not excluded in the dressage rules. My instructor competes Grand Prix and intermediare and she cannot remember seeing anything in the rule book about them. I have also used mine for all three phases in eventing to Novice level and no one said anything even after tack inspection.

I find they make me very light handed, a very soft contact and subtle movements, fantastic for dressage training as I can maintain a contact and not continuously lengthen my reins.

For jumping I find them a bit awkward, I tend to find I am pulle forward or have to slip them a lot and then I struggle to get them back. But That was on a youngster whose head was all over the place.

Certainly have used them BSJA and bearing in mind the kit that most show jumpers have on, the are hardly a gadget

I'm sure Ernest designed these for me!!
I use to be his groom when he was at Bristol & he was for ever yelling at me to shorten my reins! Then a minute later yelling at me again to stop hanging the washing out!! Shame he didn't have these whilst I was working for him!!

Maybe they would help me, I constantly have to shorten my reins, especially my left one which has a will of its own, I look down in amazement & there it is, 20 miles long! My mare is very short in front, so I tend to jump in a kind of cross country style even when I'm sj, so end of slipping my reins, defo don't want to be anywhere near in front of the movement, or she tips me off the front! Do you reckon these would help me look a bit more tidy, & able to steer??
