ED won his tribunal yesterday against Kingsbarn Equestrian Centre following his dismissal. He won £25,000 in compensation, although is quoted as saying that he did not expect to see any of the money due to the current financial position the centre is in.

Not pointless from the perspective of clearing your name etc though after the stress of a tribunal it is a shame not to get the money awarded.

Yep would agree about the name clearing bit though it will be galling to be awarded the money to then not see any of it.

Well if the centre is sold if there is money left over from the sale of what they owe would Ernest not get any money from that?

Glad he won.

I really don't know the legality of it - if the administrators were aware of the pending claim then they may have made provision for it, equally though, they may not have

It will also depend on how much they get for the centre and how many other creditors there are.

The centre apparently has plenty of money. I have heard from someone who knows the place well (although yes of course it could be rumour...) that Kingsbarn purely claimed they were in administration so that they didnt have to pay Ernest. I imagine its a lot of hasstle to do this, but thats what I heard.

I have heard from someone locally that planning permission has already been applied for on the site - for houses. It was green belt land originally and they were given planning permission for an equestrian centre as it was in keeping with the green belt. However since they have failed to make a viable business they are now applying for housing on the grounds that the land is now developed. How much money will that bring in. Kingsbarn has gone into administration - the owner of Kingsbarn has not. I think the Ernest Dillon situation is only an aside. I am extremely dubious about this whole set up - property development requests have gone in for this area before and been turned down. How much money would a 40 acre housing estate bring in?

Right now - not much - House builders arent buying land. They have plenty left in their land banks, if they could find a buyer they would be mad to sell now.
Pleased Ernest won

My local planning officer told me that they want 30 houses per acre because if they have to build on undeveloped land they want as much build as they can from that plot.

Don't think developers are buying though as sites for new build near us have stopped work and been shut down. I guess until things in the housing market improve.
