I posted this link on FB last night, it always cracks me up, and I wish I could high five the little lad in it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUaP0t5IUnM

Someone has commented on it as follows:

OK this is a genuine question from someone who knows very little about horses and ponies. How do you know that Ed isn't just saying I don't want to be ridden? He seemed to get jittery when the boy used his whips and his heels - so how can you tell the difference between a pony "being cheeky" and one that is really saying I am not enjoying this?

And I really don't know how to reply! Am I naive in that ponies are just good at being naughty? Esp with tiny jockeys!?

And this footage was over an 18 mth period... Am I bad that I just laughed and shared? I don't think Ed was being anything other than norty!

Well with regards that video there's also a video of "ed being good" taken at the same time, so I think this is just a case of cheeky pony trying to get away with things.

I think it's a disgusting video. Who puts their child in a position where he is so overhorsed by his pony that he hits the floor time after time after time? Who lets a pony get away with this behaviour time after time after time, through naughtiness, pain, or any other reason? Dreadful. The worst of YouTube and its five minutes of fame, in my opinion :( Not funny.

I don't know enough about the pony to have any view on whether he's being naughty through pain or not.

But my response to the person would be that a horse just deciding he isn't being ridden IS a horse being naughty.

To be fair though, it says in the video description that those clips were taken over a period of 18 months and that she has hours and hours of footage of the pony being perfect, but only three minutes of him being naughty. I think it looks worse than it is because it's so concentrated!

Of course, she just happened to be videoing the three minutes in eighteen months of him being naughty, at home, with no particular reason to be videoing at all? Whatever, still the worst of YouTube and its five minutes of fame imo. A child hitting the floor is not entertainment to me :(

This, the little boy was dumped every time he used the whip, it didn't come across to me as being a happy pony, poor pony, poor rider, all credit to him for keep getting back on

This is years old. It was a video made of a compliation of clips that were being sent to a trainer, if I remember rightly. The mother came on this forum a few years ago to tell people about it. If you search their name on Youtube there are clips of him riding that pony and successive ponies after that. He's a lot older now.

This video is several years old, and has been done to death.

Bet the kid turned in to one hell of a jockey though........

If you look at her youtube videos, she has loads and loads of her son riding. She seems to be one of those people who videos everything.

I'm pretty sure he's 16 or 17 years old now. Anyway, I love Ed! He's just like the naughty little ponies I learned to ride on.

I have better things to do with my life than watch the videos of a mother who thinks it's fun to see her child repeatedly dumped by his pony.He wasn't hurt? There by the grace of God ......

I am a complete novice, but small bouncy person, and mostly well behaved ED makes good viewing - you tube Ed being good! Ed being naughty does make me lol!! x
