Escapee sheep in my field :(

It doesn't help at all I'm afraid. The big problem is these people are our next door neighbours with lots of nasty smelly ways to make life difficult for us if we upset them.

My third neighbour owns my water supply. If he 'accidentally' cracks our pipe by driving over wet ground in his tractor, we have no water.

I have had similar problems to yours, OP, only I am in Devon so have Devon banks! With hedging on the top. In the end I saved up and had the hedge cut & laid. We did have to put up wire along it while it was growing back again, but now the hedge is really thick and strong so it keeps the bleaters out.
Have also had a bullock crash through my post & rail. I mended that myself as none of the farmers involved in these incidents ever offer to fix the damage. This does make me cross but at least if I am mending fencing I can take it out on the hammer & nails :)

I know exactly what it's like, we are in cornwall and have sheep. Personally I would put up stock fencing on my side of the fence and leave them to it. Even if they destroy the hedge they won't get into your field. I appreciate you shouldn't have to but it appears your neighbour has no intention of doing it either so a bit of self preservation may be required.

Boundaries are always a nightmare! We are in drystone wall land, with electric fencing round the inside to stop the girls knocking stones off by rubbing. This works well for keeping the horses and our three sheep in, until the neighbours get going! One thought it would be ok to take three courses of stone off our wall, to repair some of his! We put a stop to that! Then another Twonk decided to turn a stone out house into some fancy patio building, took the wall down one morning when no-one was here, leaving a gap which let the sheep onto the lane, which leads to the road! We now ensure all is fenced but the twonk with the building has been known to turn our electric off

What's one of them then ????

back in the day :o every village would have one. We do still have one.

Its basically a place where you take stray animals and they are held for a certain period of time. The owner, if he comes forward has to pay the expenses of the person who has brought them to the pinfold etc. If they don't come forward then they are sold to cover the costs of the person whose land they have strayed onto.

Can be good for focusing the mind of people that don't fence their fields!!

Don't know where would be best to find out in the UK - local NFU should know or local DEFRA - if there is such a thing

I wish!

On the other hand the only people who I could ask to load them into my lorry for me are ........ you guessed it :D
