Just wanted to warn owners that there is an outbreak of equine flu in essex. My vets text me this morning to worn me. They didnt say where in essex but thought i would pass it on incase some horses arent vaccinated

Yes.. My vet mentioned it yesterday. Luckily handy's up to date! YO's riding school ones are unvaccinated though!
From what I've heard (from my vets) is that 2 imported unvaccinated horses in Sudbury have equine flu. At the yard we've all checked passports and the majority of liveries are up to date.
Yard owner had fax from her vets saying it's now more widespread.

Vet said it is those in sudbury is advising that horses who have been jabbed more than 6 months ago to bring booster forward. Those that have been done in last 6 months should be ok but i'd speak to ure vet to be sure

As far as I understand, the flu cases are not in Sudbury at all, they are in the Bromley area. The vet practice who diagnosed the case are based in/near Sudbury but the cases are apparently not in this area directly.

oooh ok. I'm in colchester so pretty close to us then! scary stuff. Great Bromley (if thats the right one), is a 15min drive from us. Would be catley cross that diagnosed it then as they're on the essex/suffolk border near sudbury.
