D went to the vets yesterday for tests and have no idea how much I'm going to have to find to pay the bill.

Any thoughts?

1 lameness exam
1 nerveblock right foot
3 x-rays for each front foot

Lanky had a lameness investigation which included 3 nerve blocks, 3 sets of xrays, a lameness workup and 2 nights at the clinic on full livery and nursing care; that came to almost £700, so if I deduct £60 for the 2 nights' livery that's £640. This also included 4 weeks' worth of danilon and some joint injections when he was there. You appear to have had a third of the tests that Lanky had, so I'd also go with around £200, maybe a little more.

HmmI'm going to go higher than that if he had a lameness work up , did he just have the one block or did it take a few blocks to get the diagnosis?
I'd say£600 and upwards but vets charges do vary drastically.
When my little horse had a lameness work up, both fronts xrayed and nerve blocks applied (3 in one 1 in the other) the bill was £953.00

*scrapes self off the floor thinking Christmas could be a little thin this year*

I asked how much the nerve blocks were, she said about £15 each plus VAT and she had two injections so should come to about £35.

Lameness work up is usually about £35 if they come to you so presuming that will be the same.

The real unknown are the x-rays, have never had those before and didn't like to ask how much they were.

I've recently had x-rays on both front legs and nerve blocks. No lameness workup. My bill was just under £600. He was in and out the same day. Plus I had the original callout bill (before referral) which was £110.

I think some ppl are guessing way too high, My boy recently had lameness exam - £35, 1 nerve block - £40 and x rays each costing £35-£40 so if you had the same with just one x ray per front foot id say - £150-£160 plus sedation - £30 I rekon your bill will come to about - £180-£190.

Hope the bill is nearer my estimate for your sake!!!!

When shadow was lame his bill was just under £1100 each go- but he had scintigraphy scans which was £600 and 4 days of nursing care at £64 per day so leaving the x rays and sedation plus lameness examination that leaves about £300

when joe had it his bill was £700 for one day, but that was nerve blocks all round and xrays on his feet all round

Should be under half that then because she only had one nerve block in one foot and x-rays on two feet. Was only there just over an hour.

Really hoping it is anyway

I think you'll find it does vary between clinics. One girl on here put her horse through the same surgery my horse has just undergone. Mine cost about £2500 including the initial lameness investigation; hers was about double that.

I had a guy from Liphook travel down to my clinic to do mine as well, so had to pay his travel expenses in that!
