Well perhaps I am from the old school, however I was always taught to walk passed Walkers, Cyclists and most of all, other Riders!
Also if you catch up with another Rider, then you ask permission to pass and then once passed, ask if it is ok if you wish to trot on
Is there a different etiquette applying to Endurance Riders, who you may encounter out and about, even on the roads?
For the third time now I have asked a particular Rider, to walk as she approaches me and my horses in very fast trot.
Today we met on a very sharp bend, with a car following her, whilst myself and my other horse were negotiating the corner, which is on a hill, with barbed wire to the left. It was obvious that Motor was excited by the horse coming at trot towards him, as he was bouncing around, eyes wide open and was rushing forward.
When I asked her to walk, she carried on and when I repeated myself, stating that I have asked her to walk before, she continued in her fast trot, retorting that I need to grow up!!!!
To say I was extremely angry and upset is an understatement! If anything had happened to Motor, I may have not have been responsible for my actions.
The problem is that although I do not often meet other riders, I am likely to encounter her again soon.
Rant over, however what are your views .... I really hope I do not regret asking though
