i was told that if you put a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil in a barrel of water, to soak hay. for a pony with copd, it would help the airways, has anyone tried this, or is it not a good idear.

Never heard that one and would be a little wary of actually putting it in a feed stuff. If you want a tried and tested way of dealing with COPD I recommend Global Herbs, their products really work, or if your feed supplier has american imports, Cough eze from Farnham labs is very similar and equally effective.

I only use eucalyptus oil on feet!

I know the horslyx lick has menthol, eucalyptus and aniseed Cairo has one as he occasionally gets a cough when kept in - he is very good and does not scoff it in one day. Chancer only gets his for a short time as he is piglet.

I would have thought you might be better using something like this or alternatively put some oil on something to see if he would sniff at it would be better.

It is a wonderful oil and is great for smelly feet and I also use it in my fly spray but have never actually fed it.

The bedding I use, Sundown Yellow is impregnated with it and the boxes smell great. I suppose you could always put some drops with water into a spray bottle and spray the bed but I don't know how it would be if you actually fed it.

We had some for a horses feet and on the bottle it said do not inhale so feeding it would probably not be a good idea. (it must have been extra strong stuff from the vet I think)
