I'm very chuffed cos a top Arab breeder in Belgium has just offered to act as official agent for Tobago in Europe!

She's a big fan of his, has her very best 3 mares in foal to him, and now wants to put him on her website and start promoting him properly in Europe for me.

Does anyone else on here have a European agent for their stallion(s)? I'm just wondering how it works and if there are any issues/potential pitfalls that this breeder and I should be aware of?

I have of course insisted that she must take a commission on any Tobago-breedings that she sells for me, but I have no idea what percentage this should be? Does anybody here know what would be normal?

I totally trust her, and know she has Tobago's best interests at heart. She stands other people's stallions at her stud, but I'm not sure if she's ever acted as agent for an overseas stallion before, so this is really for us both to get some advice.

Any thoughts?

Thank you Rollestone! I'm so pleased that you like him.

Someone is supposed to be making a little Tobago-website for me, but it's got delayed cos of computer gremlins. I don't have an online album (not sure how to do that, tbh).

I'd better not post another load of pics on here - people are probably getting sick and tired of endless Tobago-pics by now!

- but I could PM some to you. You've probably seen most of them already, though!

By the way - I've been admiring your horses too: so nice to see someone breeding really good coloured horses!

I think there is a way of sending a link to something like photobucket which would contain the photo's. If you opened a free account filled it with his photo's then just put the link up. If I am wrong someone will point you in the right direction.

not sure of the percentage but maybe you could say £££ for the first 5 she sells then slightly more if she sells over that and even more if she sells over 15 ???

Htobago......if I were you I would sign up a contract or something on the semen sides of things. I would assume that you would give her the discounted rate and that she would then charge the normal rate for his semen.

On the stock side of things the normal commission charges are around 10%.

Hope this helps. Perhaps you should speak to Opie as she has her stallions frozen semen distributed worldwide.
