The "long list" for Mannheim has been announced: John, Ellen & Michael Whitaker; Nick Skelton; Will Funnell; David McPherson; Tim Stockdale; Robert Smith.
So no great surprises except that Corlato has been injured and Ronaldo, the horse named wih Robert hasn't done anything to suggest that he is ready for such a test. I'd have thought Mark Armstrong and Thesaura could have been included, as they are allowed to name 10 riders & 20 horses.

Does seem strange that they didn't name the full quota, can they add to it at a later date?

Who would Tim Stockdale be riding?

No, the closing date for nominated entries was on Tuesday. I would always opt to use the full quota, or at least as many as could realistically be sent - they need to have completed certain GPs/NCs with 8 faults or less to earn their certificate of capability. Corlato is the horse named for Tim. The only ones with 2 horses named are Michael with Portofino and Mozart des Hayettes, and Nick with Arko and Russel. August 3rd is the deadline for naming the 5 pairs to travel.

Didn't think we would see Robert Smith there, Thought Corlato was injured? wonder if Arko will be picked?

Think it may be
John
Ellen
Will F
Micheal
David

Yes indeed they will as there won't be any other shows after that to influence the decision. I would think that the preferred quartet is John, Michael, Ellen & David, and it's a question of sorting out the 5th. Arko has yet to show consistency and Mondriaan's form has not been ideal. If Corlato has indeed fully recovered, I'd be inclined to pick Tim.

Having been unwell, I've only been able to spend sort spells at my PC during the past few weeks, and other tasks had to take priority!

Your presence or lack of it is felt when you do not come onto the forum!

Yes I am, thanks. I'd have been back sooner but so much time was taken up watching all of the sj at Aachen via their website 2 weeks ago, and then spending a frustrating time last week trying to watch the almost useless live video stream from the Gt Yorks. It's gratifying to find that I've been missed!

I saw that Rambo did a bit to help out.

Ah well, I'm the one without so many other commitments, and therefore, when well, able to spend time on research and spreading the news!
Hope that Ardingly has escaped the monsoon. In my part of London, now that the thunder and rain have passed, it's a really nice afternoon.

Ardingly have cancelled today and will be deciding tomorrow whether to run Saturday and Sunday. Hope Rambo hasn't been washed away!
Are you in Auvers at all for the young riders?

That is such a pity for all concerned. What a summer!

I would have loved to be in Auvers next week, but will have to make do with following the results on their website. Hope to get down to Hickstead on Friday and/or Sunday, and perhaps New Forest & Hants County on Tuesday.

Oh no... Rambo will be gutted - he has taken a day off work and is staying over for 3 days.
