I'm SO sick of all this MUD!

The Grey One isn't too bad, he has rolled a couple of times, but nothing massively bad. BUT, he's decided he doesn't like his legs being washed.

That's fine, he's a baby, he's only being a squirmy baby about it, and to be fair, he's been left to be feral for a good 2 months now, what with me being a cripple 'n all. But tonight he learned how to snap baler twine *sigh*

Again, not too worried, a lunge line through the tie ring and holding onto the other end fixed that (though I challenge anyone to try hosing/scrubbing legs whilst on crutches and holding the end of a lunge line at the same time!!!)

But The Brown One....UGH! Seriously, I know people always say they have the filthiest horse in the world, but TBO is in a differnt league/world/UNIVERSE to any horse I've ever met when it comes to rolling.

Luckily he's an angel to be cleaned, and stands perfectly still even with a crippled owner flailing around and hanging off his rug!

It's going to take a warm day, and a lot of soap and water - and probably not a crippled owner, to get The Brown One clean.

I gave up in the end.

So I have a clean Grey One, and a half cleaned/sludgey Brown One.

I HATE Winter :(

Sounds like fun NOT :D

I'm quite lucky in that my field only really gets muddy round the hay feeder, it drains really well and a coupe of nice dry days and its all dried out again, so can't complain too much.

Mud?
haven't had that for a couple of weeks since now.
Mind you, I've moved the pair into the last paddock with grass & this drains well.
If it stays cold & frosty for a while longer then I'll be moving them back into the lower paddock again before the grass greens up any more (its a part boggy paddock & ok for 1 to potter in, but not really for 2 to play rugger in!)

Do feel for you tho OP - till I cut down the numbers I had the same...:o

The worst bit is, most of the field isn't THAT bad any more....the gate way is but that's to be expected in our area!

The mud on The Brown One is an accumulation of weeks of rolling because I've just not had the strength to be able to groom him!!

I hate mud too..... is your horse this bad? :D

It's not really his fault (Grey One) I've only been able to muster the balance and strength to do any kind of hosing/cleaning once a week, so his routine has been VERY sparse, so no education for him at all.

When The Brown One DoeS act up, it's catastrophic, least The Grey One just squirms a bit and dances around on his tip toes like a big old fairy, and when he did break the string he just sort of looked at me with that sheepish, oafish grin on his face....The Brown One would have legged it and led us a merry dance round the yard for an hour!

The Grey One's antics are just annoying when you're stuck on crutches!
