A friend has loaned me 4 6x4ft intwerlocking rubber mats which are springy so guessing they are EVA foam type ones, they are green. I was not there when she put them down and she was not there when i put them down in my stable but she said dont worry they can only do down one way as there are straight sides with no interlocking and the interlocking will only join with some other sides not all.

Well i put then down to make a square which is what she had and ended up with straight bits along the sides of 2 walls and interlocking bits front and along back wall and 9 o clock to three o clock across middle. straingt join in the middle form back wall to front of mats which is as tight as i can make it- ie; i had to jump on them to get them to lay down.

horse has been in at night 3 nights and one day, i have straw and bedmax mix of banks and bit in middle. none of edges are wet wee is in middle of bed under front part of banks but also loads under mats.

What have i dont wrong as none of the others have wee under them, bedding is not soaked. i have used just black rubber matting before and it didnt go through. is is goign through the front to back seam in the middle which is not an interlocking one????

Sometimes it's just the way the floor drains. It may look perfectly level to the human eye but it may be ever so slightly off. I found that without matting, I could obviously stop the wee 'pooling' into place as the bed/concrete was somewhat absorbent. I have now learnt that matting means just having to deal with wee underneath.

The only thing I can suggest is pulling them up periodically and sweeping underneath. It's a faff but comes with the territory.

Someone at an old yard used to sprinkle the floor with this white powder/crystal type stuff to help soak it up and it worked very well- but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called. You can get it in much smaller quantities for small animal cages- I think it's called something like Cage Fresh. I will see if I can find out the name as obviously a hamster sized bottle won't get you very far! ;)

I also have the green EVA interlocking mats - they don't do that for me. I agree it is likely your floor - ours is sloped to drain out the stable and that is the way the wee flows!
