Even more guilty now.... 50 seconds and it was gone....

The hounds are on Arden Grange chicken - and yes, there is absolutely no problem with them eating ever ? I would love to have them on raw but the cost is prohibitive sadly, it cost me enough when I had 4 of them on it before and they were much smaller hounds ?

I have to say they did absolutely brilliantly on raw, they all loved it and I never had any problems at all with them while I fed it (which was for quite a few years) I’ll see if I can find the pic of them when I was feeding raw....

Oh except the time - ironically enough - when I bought four whole rabbits for them. It was absolutely hilarious - the rabbits didn’t run away, so the greyhounds didn’t understand what they were meant to do with them ?? One out of the four tried eating the rabbit, the other three just prodded them to make them move then lost interest ??

ETA - yay found the picture at last! Four very shiny healthy hounds fed on raw ?

Islay, Amy, Hoover and Flick.... miss you all so much my beautiful hounds ❤️

Wow, what an amazing shine, they look great! I can see why raw feeders are evangelical about it. Feeding four dogs on it must have cost a packet, so I can understand why you don't feed your dogs on it now. My boy is 35kg and has nearly half a kilo of kibble a day. If money and freezer space were no object I'd give it a go, despite being near vegetarian and finding raw meat distasteful. He's my world. One of my greys died completely out of the blue at the age of 6, and wonder if it was due to him being fed cheap kibble. I didn't know anything about dog nutrition then. I even gave him the Bakers semi moist chunks as treats. ? I haven't bought Arden Grange, though I got some sample bags of it at my local pet shop, and use it as treats! I must say that it smells really good for dog food and will probably buy some at some stage. I chop and change his food, I know which ingredients suit him. Chicken and beef don't. At the moment he's on Autarky white fish and potato, and I'm very impressed with it. It's very similar to the Arden Grange one of that variety, but about £10 cheaper a sack. His poos are the best they've ever been, too.

When you said about the rabbits I was horrified - at first I thought they were live, and that that was taking raw feeding a bit far! ? It must have been very confusing for them to be faced with whole rabbits! ?

I'm not sure how to go about quoting a post, I don't think I've done it right. Sorry that the last bit got chopped off. I just noticed that the last few lines of it were below this post for some reason, which wouldn't have made any sense, so deleted them. As I've typed quite a bit, I didn't want to delete it and start again.

OMG I’m so sorry - I didn’t think to say that the rabbits were very definitely frozen when they came to me ? My ex did freak out a little when I totally forgot to tell him and they were all in a plastic washing up bowl in the garage defrosting with their little ears poking over the edge. ????

I have heard great things about Autarky and keep meaning to try it ?

No need to apologise, I'm relieved to hear that they were definitely dead, though! ? I'm not surprised that they made your ex freak out, think I would too! I know that rabbit ears are supposed to be good for worming them. I saw them in my local pet shop, couldn't quite bring myself to buy them though. I can just imagine my greedy boy swallowing one and choking. I've spent enough time over the years at the vets due to greyhound accidents, I'm not sure I want one involving a rabbits ear. ?

The white fish variety of Autarky is really good, and gets a very high score on allaboutdogfood.co.uk. It's great value for the quality, too. Years ago I used to feed my greys on the chicken one, which they did well on. That's very reasonably priced, usually under £20 for 12kg.
