:mad:Stayed at Day's Inn Corley last saturday night for crufts , clearly states on the hotel webiste that it is free parking, just got a £100 parking fine through the post !! , pretty obvious we were staying at the hotel as parked outside it and been a service station on the M6 where the hell else would we be ? , have phoned hotel all afternoon but phone is out of order , so bloody frustrating , loads of folks stayed there with their dogs be interesting to know if they got fines too .

Thanks guy's , have emailed as still no respone via the phone , tried the other phone number but they just told me to phone the hotel

If it's not official (i.e sent out by one of those private firms, rather than the local council or police) you can just ignore it. They're more or less impossible to enforce.

From your post you were parked outside rather than in a car park? Do you mean on a road? In which case you may have to cough up if it was double yellows or one of those "restricted after Xpm" type zones and it's an official ticket.

Either way, the hotel probably won't be able to do anything about it (unless they issued the ticket, which would be really weird, why hassle your potential repeat customers?), you'd need to get in touch with whoever has sent you the notice.

Unless it's a private firm. Then you should laugh maniacally before shoving it in the bin. IMHO of course. :)

Corley services is one big carpark privately owned by a company called Carpark Eye , hotel customers park for free but folks just visiting the services [ welcome break , kfc etc ] are allowed 2 hours free parking , after that they get fined , we were parked right outside the hotel as were loads of other cruft's folks with dogs, letter looks official with photo's of our car as we arrived and left ,

Oh my god we got a parking fine as well, we stayed in a different hotel and have not had to pay for parking in the last 3 years of staying there, never had a problem. Think that was a carpark eye letter too

my daughter thinks it's a scam as details on the letter and their website differ, still waiting to contact the hotel when their phone is back in order ! , let me know how you get on please . Where you staying overnight for cruft's ?

Do you mean official as in they look like they're from the council/police? In which case, ask yourself why they'd be policing a privately owned car park. Or does it look like it's come through from Carpark Eye?

Either way, absolutely do not pay over any cash until you've heard back from the (probably clueless) hotel. And then still don't pay over any cash. Sounds really dodgy.

Yeah we did stay overnight, in a hotel with its own big private carpark. the times it says we left dont add up, once we were there we didnt leave again till the next morning. the hotel tried to fob us off but theyre ringing us back on monday

The letter is from Carpark eye , still can't get through to the hotel , number out of order , all very bizarre .

Wait to hear back from the company and the hotel. I got a ticket from one of these private scam companies the same week they were exposed on the oneshow and got lots of advice.
The advice was they weren't allowed to access dvla so wouldn't be able to track us down so if they have sent you a letter I'd be questioning where they got your details from. Speak to trading standards they were very helpful

Car parking eye is a scam. Do not pay it. I had one for parking in a morrisons car park and sought legal advice on it. The legal advice was to ignore the letters and they will stop. Which they did. They can't enforce it and the pray on older people who just pay it.

Google them, very insightful. They shouldn't be allowed to trade.

Do not pay. They will send threats, try to make deals with half price offers to settle, etc etc.
Throw every letter in the bin and don't reply.
I had one from another scam car parking company and followed the advice from the forum on Money Saving Expert. After loads of letters over several months they just stopped and went away.

Better still, don't even open the letters.

All sorted now , well hopefully, got through to the hotel and they said they have had a lot of problems with Carpark Eye and to send the letter to their customer service manager and they would sort it , :)
