Hello!

I would like to do a event camp in the Spring/ Summer ideally quite early on, and wondered if any body had and recommendations/ feedback from previous camps.

I am currently competing 80cm SJ, and would like to be jumping British Novice and BE80's confidently in the Spring. I am looking for a camp which would prepare me for my fist ever BE, give me and the horse a confidence boost, and be a bit of fun as well.

I would like both flatwork, SJ and XC lessons, in a group jumping 90cm - 1m. I had a quick look at the Active Rider website, but was a bit disappointed that they seem to be holding fewer camps than in previous years, and aimed at a more introductory level.

Ideally it would be a camp with on site stabling as my transport is limited, and with some good socials and other horsey activities in the evenings. I need to think of these things now to get through the dark wet cold mornings / nights!

Staffordshire / Derbyshire / Cheshire / Nottinghamshire area.

Thankyou!

Hi, it's a real shame that you aren't further north because Parkend Equestrian in Northumberland run a series of camps from Spring to Autumn which are great. Our local RC has two camps there a year and everyone has a fantastic time - there's a great indoor school plus jumping paddock and xc - plus lots of stabling and accommodation. There are pre-event camps varying in height, plus confidence giving flatwork camps / young horse camp / RoR Camp and Jump Confidence Camp plus general camps as well!!

Sue Colley at Breaston Equestrian in Derbyshire ran regular BE weekend camps this year and is also a BE80T coach so would be good person to go to if you're thinking about doing BE80s in the area.

Thats a great suggestion, thanks Connie! I did see these on the BE newsletter a while ago but had forgotten about them. Have you ever taken part in one? I am hoping to do Stafford 1 as my fist BE!

I went to the Event Camp in March.

Had a fabulous time. The facilities are amazing and I had great trainers. Came away brimming with confidence. Everyone was really friendly but a lot of them must go fairly regularly as they all seemed to know each other.

It seems they are doing a jump camp instead of the event camp next year but from my brief glance it looks like the only difference is the Friday you get a Flatwork for jumping lesson instead of a dressage lesson.

Would love to go to another one but it takes a good 3 hours plus to get there and I have to drag my mum to it as I can't drive the lorry so will have to have a think about it.

Eland lodge do loads of camps. Dates might not be up just yet. Sue coley is in Breaston. She was the person who did the BE80 course walk at Shelford this year.
