Have they made you alter your plans?

I'm trying to get an entry in for the PN at West Wilts on Thursday now that Wilton is cancelled. The aim was to not go PN again but Moon has got Smiths Lawn novice next Monday and needs a run before then as she's still such a baby. Would have done the novice at WW but thats on the Fri and think it's a bit mean running her in 2 novices with just 2 days in between really.

I'm now also thinking of sticking another event in between two others when she was going to have a weekend off as otherwise she's got no chance of qualifying for Aldon.

It's such a nightmare!!!

Luckily im not in that situation at the mo what with selling Spider and just having the 4yr old - but really feel for everyone.

But it seems the only event poor Cruz might do this year (LM) may also be cancelled! This year has been such a washout

Hopefully other events will add more days to put up with more entries in the latter half of the year or we are just all going to be balloted! Its so stupid

Yes, totally! I missed my first novice run, now having to do another unplanned PN, go to a N as our first run I hadn't even considered previously, and have given up any hope of qualifying for Aldon, which was a distant dream anyway. I am also planning a bit more in the Autumn than I was before, and having to think about ballot stickers, which I normally don't bother using round here! I have also joined the BSJA as a direct result of all the cancellations, just so I have something to do and can keep the SJ ticking over.

I know an event that is trying to get the first weekend in Nov. It's just up to BE now.. so events are trying to add more days in, but BE can be funny buggers and might not let them.

We were lucky, Bee and Willough got 7 runs by beginning of June, then had to do GCSE's anyway.

The intention over the summer was always to do lots of PC stuff as she is doing B test and area teams, so so far going to plan.

Have a confession to make though, we have gone over to the dark side and have done some dressage and BSJA to get some outings though!

I'd decided to give my 5yr old all of June off as the ground would be hard

, then do a couple of PAVOs, then a novice at Aston le Walls. So my PAVOs were cancelled, I went to ALW last Friday and they cancelled it when I got there, so poor pony has had no run since Burnham Market in April and is getting pretty fed up of all the work and no parties!

My other horse had been off for ages, did one event beginning of June and has done nothing since then as he's been malingering (pus in foot, bashed leg, you name it he's had it). He's now raring to go to Knaptoft on Sunday to try and get his ** qualification and I'm not too hopeful that it'll run.

So I'm trying to be really grown-up about it, and think of the wear and tear they haven't had, and the entry fees I've saved, but it's not working: I JUST WANT TO EVENT *stamps feet*

Looks like i'm going to The Hand this weekend for some unaff. SJing.. any idea how big 3'9" is, bigger than a novice, but not quite as big as an Int.??

[/ QUOTE ]

1.15 is the max height for novice, int is 1.25 max....

Not much help, but Hand is great for unaff as they use BSJA builders and build big! Don't know if you have been recently but they now have two superb outdoor arenas as well as the indoor too. I'm off there for BSJA on the 4th.

It's getting on Intermediate height but as it's unaff will probably be more like Novice.

You are lucky, to jump higher than 3ft round here you have to go BSJA.

Hear what you are saying, but not at Hand - their unaff is brilliant as they use BSJA builders and build well up to height - I did a 1m class there recently which had a 1.10 JO.

They often do not run the 3'9 as not enough entries. Which you can understand - if you have a horse good enough to be doing it they join BSJA. Best to ring and check. My horse has lost another shoe (no 4) so doubt I will be doing anything.

I've just entered another event and am all excited again now!

It's not till the end of August, but I must remember not to get my hopes up too much...

Would guess that depends on the weather, but they usually have the outdoor warmup open.

Usually thousands of people there for the small classes, then when you hit 1m or bigger, hardly anyone! As lec says, sometimes they don't run the biggest class. I usually ring them incessantly throughout the day to find out what's happening. If I hadn't lent my lorry out this weekend, I'd be there too.

I ring every 45 mins to find out what class they are on as it can be so hit and miss. I will see what happens to whether I go. I have not jumped for 5 weeks so think I will be doing 90cm and 1m if I have 4 shoes.

It means I probably won't go Novice this year, and most guttingly, won't get to run at Henbury! I've lost three PN runs now, and wanted to make sure I had got the SJ cracked (cos he's now jumping clear at RC comps, so must have finally got it right, but not had a chance to test it at BE yet) before entering a novice, particularly as at Henbury the SJ arena is pretty tight, making for some difficult lines.

Can't even see what I'm going to do going forward...rubbish!!

Yes and no..!? Mean't to be doing ALW Int next, but not sure if I want to hurl myself in the deep end after no novice run in 3 weeks and Ferd having a virus. (Which vet said should be gone within a week and I should be ok to do Aston - woop!) Think we're trying to get in WW novice too Boss.. Then will play it by ear at ALW on the day and have Spring Hill as our Int back up after Brock Park.

LEC, We've lost a another shoe (number 3) today too..

Was meant to be grooming at Wilton, so now taking my horse to a friends on Sat morning for a schooling session. Off to the Hand also to help out on Sunday to give the ones which were going to run at Wilton a jump! Bloody rain!

Sorry - I'm a glass half full type so here goes...

I know it's frustrating and all, but think back to the last time our season got decimated: 2001, with F&M, and then count our lucky stars that this time it's due to nothing worse than a bit of water. It can seem like the end of the world to lose runs this season, but for the vast majority of us there will be next year...

I am yet to have a run this season!! Entered MK in April but w/d due to hard ground!!! Was banned from further xc til efter my wedding so planned on 4 events in June and July, all of which have been abandonned and my twice re sheduled IRF is now in Wilts on a week day so have written that off!! Fingers crossed for aston on 12th Aug! I did send a cheeky e-mail to BE about the grass roots champs asking whether they would award wild cards for them due to the mess the weather has caused to the calendar....waiting to hear but not hopeful!!

Our Scottish BE things seem to be running ok. I know one that was cancelled but everything else seems to be running. Im hoping Hendersyde is cancelled though so they move the scottish champ class up here instead! Too far away!

Ive had only 4 runs so far. Got 3 more planned and thats it.

Our BSJA this weekend has just moved venue off grass, onto a surface because of the ground conditions. This weather is getting rather boring now.
