Is there such a thing as a one off policy I can take out to cover lost event fees if I can't attend due to horse injury/illness?
I can find policies for the event organisers, or competition fee cover rolled up in competition horse insurance policies but nothing I can take out to cover a one off event (it's a training clinic, not a competition if that makes any difference).

I've sent messages to SEIB, KBIS and Petplan to ask them too...just wondering if I'm googling for the wrong thing.

No that I’ve heard, but actually it would be a good policy to create - take the onus off the organiser and place it on the individual

All 3 companies have come back saying "nope - not something we do"
Damn, I signed up to a clinic because the organiser said it was a thing (I'm certain it was a misunderstanding on her part, nothing sneaky)
I'm going to have to rely on bubble wrap and crossed fingers then

I can't imagine it would be economic for them to administer. An average clinic / class (not BE event) would be £40-£50.
Anything more than 10% to insure against non-attendance would be "too expensive".

So for £3-5 they have to take your details, send policy docs, then have a process to get vet confirmation of injury before paying out. Indeed even for you if your horse was a bit off but not vet worthy then a £150 call out fee and lameness sign off - would be 2x the cost of the lost clinic entry.

If the insurers didn't require vet evidence then they risk a wave of low level lameness every time the weather is bad.

Even if it is a couple of day long clinic - the cost of getting vet sign off of lameness (and then having that on your horse's record) is going to be more expensive than the lost entry fees.
