I am wondering whether I should use grease on my 14hh pony when competing at BE100 and Novice?
I've heard some people say not until intermediate but is that the same for a 14hh pony?
Thanks!

I wouldn't worry at BE100 level as the fences aren't that big. I put it on my horse at Novice level and she is only 15.3hh. Some Novice tracks can be very big and solid so I want to make sure that my girl can slide over them if she needs to. Sometimes I am the only one there with it on but I feel better with it just knowing it is there if we need it.

Totally up to you but I've never used it below advance, reason been they cannot sweat with it and we tend to find the horses who hit a fence a few time pick up better.

If you feel better put on a thin layer be warned its hard to wash off lols

I used to grease the hind legs when I was doing novices, didn't generally do the fronts because of the sweating issue and I had it in my head that bits could melt off and might get onto my reins or something. I wouldn't grease if below novice though personally. It's really up to you though as I imagine some 100 fences can be rather large for a 14hh.
