I've got two mares - One will probably go back in foal next year, and one I am considering my options - Potentially an ET as shes 4 now, and a really super type and attitude, we want to see what she can do and where she can go, so taking a couple of years out wouldn't be practical.

So, first mare is by Irco Lhee, out of a welsh/hackney driving pony mare - I need to be careful with her to not go over height as she is all horse on the sire side

She is in foal to Bernwode Brokat this time

Second mare

She is by Laban (SPSS Elite) out of an Irish jumping pony mare

Now, I like this boy - possibly more for the Laban mare, but he is now in America, so not sure how possible that would be!?

He has a son standing in the UK

Or this chap has been suggested?

Or this one - I like Renoir and Don Joshi, but I'm not sure about Romulus himself

Many thanks if anyone has any suggestions, or advice about obtaining semen from the US - if that is even possible!

Well...not really up on my breeding but I do love the look of Meadow Stud's new boy. What about the likes of Casino Royale K or Champion de Luxe. I think Elite also represent other pony stallions not listed on their website so maybe have a chat with them??

I am with you that I am not over struck by Romulus, something about the front end doesn't like me but a cracking jump and he is very young so maturing to do and could all change.
My second thought was that if you are going so far as to get semen from America then I really like the look and performance so far plus the blood of Belafont d'Avalon, that for me is an event pony frame and think he is on the SPSS books so easy paperwork. He is only 14'1 and very little horse blood so shouldn't go over height.
My next thought was that I wouldn't bother with the expense of ET on a pony mare, the market just won't hold that kind of investment at the moment for british bred ponies sadly. All hopes are held that this will change but don't break yourself before you have begun.
I then thought that looking at your foal was going to be the next logical step as what you get from Brokat has to influence your forward motion.
Then I thought I'd be looking at some of the Anglo Arab ponies as both your mares could perhaps use that neckline and all event ponies must be fast lol.
I would certainly be looking that way for your little Laban mare as like a couple of mine it is that neck that worries me when you need them to run, they do need to flatten and stretch out to run and breathe. So maybe Cherokee Chief or if budget allows Indien D'Here or look through some of the show pony sires for the type and the bloodlines but not necessarily the performance, a nuisance for BEF entries but in terms of breeding the right pony then perhaps a requirement? That said Aimbry Chester is well proven and his son errrmm oh what is his name....walks on water in the picture....Thursden Valley Raphael is that right? is also SPSS graded and has an awesome career under saddle just doing what he does in the show ring.

I have bred 2 foals by Brokat which I am very pleased with both look to be eventing types ,the 2 yr old out of a new forest mare was reserve champion at sppss youngstock show getting very good remarks from judges ,both foals had 1st premiums at futuritys ,last years foal can be seen on www.kevinsparrow.co.uk/HFUT11_PORTMEAD_BALL.aspx
I am considering Dalcotes Krieghoff for my smaller mare in future as saw a super filly by him at futurity .

Also looking through the stallions attending the various parades, have you considered Lynn Crowdens Woodlander Wesuvio as an event sire on your Laban mare, I believe Lynn may have him to some pony mares already but I could have muddled that. He would do the job I think and some very flashy breeding to boot, she ought to keep the size down enough I'd have thought as she is quite pony proportioned and not going to go all long and roomy plus it would be a first foal or if you are going to ET then pick a very slightly smaller mare perhaps?

Oh wow those are some bloodlines, have you a link for him Pintoarabian. I loved Accondy and had no idea he had one in pony size and anglo arab. That is on paper at least a dream come true... Off to play with google.

Thanks all, certainly some to investigate in there!

I should also have added, the picture of my Laban mare showed her as a three year old, so not completely mature.

Have a look at Wayland Loganberry, New Forest event pony stallion, smart, has performance record and super temperament. We have one of his sons out of a 7/8TB mare at home at the mo and he's really smart! Got a high 1st premium at the BEF gradings. There are also plenty of videos on youtube if i recall rightly

I'm not so much into ponies, but I was at Addington at the Brightwells sale where Meadow Stud bought Romulus and all I can say is THAT is a performance pony. I didn't see him standing and I didn't see the x rays because I definitely wasn't buying. But I saw him move and I saw him jump... and you could be forgiven for thinking he was a very talented horse that had shrunk in the wash :)

I think he'll be at the SSGB in a fortnight. I'll go and inspect his limbs and conformation and see if what he's like in the stable and report back if you like... though it might be worth a trip for you to see him in the flesh.

Would be interesting to hear what people have to say - I've only seen a video, and he looked slow behind in that clip - but it might have been a bad day!

I can't make either stallion show unfortunatly. Luckily we aren't in a rush, I want to sell this foal first - probably looking at foal/empty/foal/empty as a cycle for the Irco Lhee mare.

Jamai would get my vote.....

I have a buckskin filly by Jamai and she is fab! super temperament and movement, also successful in the show ring. (and who knows maybe one day when she is all grown up I will put my boy on her!)

Jamai is currently on the BD pony team training squad I believe, and he too has a stallion son in Holland... (called Empire, if I remember rightly!)

How about looking at some performance Connemara ponies? They produce some of the best eventing ponies.
I also like the look of that Accondy son posted on here already.
