Please can you tell me where else you looked when saddle shopping, please? I need a 'good, tradition English make - not an adjustable style, really' according to my saddler, to suit my huge-shouldered, 17.0 hh ISH with slightly high withers. So, an Albion, Ideal, etc. It has to be a medium wide...and it's this that's causing the problem. Just to be really awkward, I would prefer a black one. They appear to be a bit like rocking horse poo. My saddler is also on the case and has thus far failed to find something suitable. He thinks the older Ideals are probably not thick enough through the panels.

I have a budget of up to £600 but I'm drawing a blank on here, Ebay, Saddlesdirect, FB's Saddles for Sale and Wanted, Horsemart, Preloved, Horsedeals. Am I being stoopid? Is there a really well-known site that everyone uses that I'm missing? I did look on BE but the two I could afford were gone almost as soon as they were posted.

Please help before LL and I go a bit doolally from lack of jumping anything bigger than a 2' cross pole - obviously, my dressage saddle is not suitable and will also need to be replaced; it's an adjustable job (not a Wintec) and whilst it's ok for the moment, long-term he could do with something better designed.

Thank you.

It was all going well until you said medium wide. I have a black country event and ideal event that don't fit current horse but they are both medium.

I got one of mine from a saddler who sells secondhand saddles and the other from Ingatestone as they carry a few secondhand saddles so maybe try all the tack shops who deal in saddles in case they have one.

Believe me, I have. I am on a few waiting lists. Thank you anyway. As you point out, it all goes well until we get to the 'medium wide'. Mind you, the number of times I've been told 'it's stamped wide, but it's quite a narrow wide'...
