Just being nosy really, but wondering how people's plans have gone so far for the season - have you gone to everything you wanted to? If not, why not - weather, ground, lameness etc. What is still in the pipeline for the rest of the season? It's my first season and it feels like the end is coming far too quickly!

We have managed our plan pretty well I think. We had one run at 80cm and then one at 90cm both unaffiliated and placed in both so joined BE and we have had 4 runs at BE90 with 2 placings, then we won the RC Area Q so had a blitz on dr/SJ training for a month before going to the RC Nationals.

Still to come we have got couple more unaff runs at 90cm to make sure we qualify for the Champs at Tweseldown in Oct. Then I've entered my first BE100 at Munstead which will be followed by the BE90RF at BCA and then the BE100 at Pulborough. That will be 14runs altogether if all continues to go to plan. I was debating going to WW/Keysoe on the week in between T/down and Munstead but that would be 3 in a row followed by the regionals 10days later so I think a bit much even though he does seem to go much better at competitions than he does at home!

My season is going well but not to plan!

I bought my boy last year so this would be his second season. Last year we did a BE80, one BE90 then an unaff hunter trial.

I planned to start the year doing unaff 90cm, so took him to Scone and then to Brechin RC qual. He was placed well in the Brechin Q, so I decided I would move him to BE100. registered him and entered two but he stood on a sharp stone and bruised his sole badly. Was lame for a few weeks :(

Anyway. he came good in time for Eglinton BE100, but not quite fit enough so I was pleased he finished XC clear but with time penalties. BRC champs weren't to plan but good dressage and clear SJ so not alltogether bad.

I have entered Drumclog 100 and Hutton 100 and I think that will be it for this year.

My plan for next year is to try and qualify BE100 grassroots - not sure we will get there but it will stop me moving him to Novice too quickly which I think would be bad for him.

So not all to plan but a good season so far. :D

Mini TX's season is not going to plan, but to be fair she has had GCSEs to contend with as well, so have to forgive her. Season started pretty well with a 3rd at Moreton and then a nice finish at Aldon ONu18(Q). However, exam pressure got to her, plus she had wanted to have a crack at getting to Weston Park for JRN finals, and to be honest, on the days in question it did not come together. Shen then had a nasty fall at Portman, dropped it back BE100 plus and BE100 open for a while, did well and tried N again. Fell off again at WW last week!!!!! Going to book her into Pontispool BE100 open and then back up to N again for Bricky and Larkhill.

Game plan for next year is to crack on with it. Will do JRNs (sorry ONu18Qs), but it wont be her goal - if it goes well, great, if not it wont matter. She does have the qualifying runs to go Intemediate, so will try some INs and see what happens. She's learned so much about herself and her horse that if good things happen, it will be a bonus.

Going pretty well really :) Though maybe not quite to plan!
We have done 11 events and completed them all. Had to withdraw from 3 - once because I had flu like virus and twice because of lorry issues :(

Only managed one placing this season (compared to four last season) but bit of a learning curve as we have moved up to BE100. We have struggled to get all phases right on the same day  Looking back did a very meaty BE100 as our second one this year and that knocked his confidence for next couple of events. It was meant to be our 3rd event but a breakdown meant we missed the second. The only other issue we have had XC is brakes and steering (or lack of!) as the season progressed but if I had to mark it on how his confidence has improved from the start of season we have put lots of pennies in the confidence bank :) SJ is a work in progress following a fall on grass a year ago it has taken some building back up but I think we are getting there.... And dressage I will never understand!! Some disappointing marks and occasionally an unexpectedly nice one!!

Like you I cannot believe we are near end of season. We will do 3 more at most. Then plan next year :D

Noooo don't talk about the end of the season yet, we're only just warming up:p

Have been very quiet lately as like Mini TX, R had GCSEs to contend with (33 with the A levels she took early) and after it all fell apart following the Alpacas at Goring we decided to back off a little and concentrate on school.

Then we decided to test the market selling our house and it darn went and sold so we have been rushing all over trying to find somewhere. R in the middle of all this qualified for the PC Tetrathlon champs at Hartpbury, where we head this Thurs. She has been training pretty hard having eased off completely with exams.

Following this, she does a BE100 at Highclere - we had hoped to move up to Novice but sadly just have not had the prep. Then she is riding for the Pony Club at Blenheim (if we can sort things her dads op has come through on the same day). There are then 1 or 2 events left and we might have a crack at Novice (poss at BCA). Then this year we have decided to give our 4 the winter off.

I say 4, it should have been 3! Cruise is still recuperating and will not be tested under saddle until next Spring. The 4yo is coming along really well and though I should crack on and sell him, we thought we would keep him and sell him in the Spring. A couple have offered to buy him but for children (because he is only 15.1) and I don't want him to end up in the wrong hands because he is super, so he is staying until Spring unless an adult decides they like the look of him, or someone else wants a smart project ponio to play with.

So if ours all hibernate we will be getting our fix from HHO!

It's going not too bad!

I wanted Charisma more confident xc and we are getting better each time we go out :) Ok, we're not setting the results board alight but I don't care :) Charisma is enjoying herself, I am teaching her (and being taught!) the more techincal aspects of xc and although we have had a few wobbles we are getting there, and I am so proud. We still need to work on certain things, but I can't believe I have produced this horse myself :) and

I also wanted to do a 2ft9 ODE and we have :) Next on the list is hunting, after a small holiday in September :D

Next year I'd like to do a BE90 or two :D We shall see.....

Seasons gone well so far touch wood, minus a small gap at the beginning of the season after falling off someone else's horse and breaking my collar bone, but my horse was evented by someone else so kept fit. First event back post break we were 6th and double clear at Brigstock novice and he has run well at novice so far picking up 7 points this season with double clears a 6th and a 3rd. Its scary to think I can count the number of events left on one finger. But planning on a final run at Intermediate if all continues well! Fingers Crossed! :)

Season is sort of going well and sort of not.

Precious little dun pony went lame in April (had big plans for him) and by June was told he will never be jumped over 80cms again :( But he is enjoying himself being a schoolmaster to my sister

Got a new boy who we are just getting to know each other :)

Umm not that well!! Only managed 3 events and 2 XC rounds! But not tto bad as weve had 2 frillies out of 2 compleated events! Just wish i could get a few more in but the damn ground is far too hard for his old damaged legs!! 2 more events - Gatcombe and Weston *!

It started off better than I could possibly have hoped, then has now gone down hill. Basically until the middle of June I got placed on most of my runs on both Murphy and Jem. Then the wheels came off when Murphy's jumping on grass suddenly went down the pan. 3 events not completed, and a nasty dose of concussion later the vets think Murphy has damaged both his hind suspensories (having scans to confirm this week). If he has his eventing days are over. Jem is going OK, though recently has stated to knock the odd pole SJ, so need to get that sorted again! Fingers crossed Jem will leave the SJ's up for her last events of the season!

Not going particularly to plan if I'm honest! I've too only managed 3 events... bummer! It started brill with a xc rally at tweseldown where we jumped loads of BE90 and a BE100 fence, had massive plans etc to have 2 runs at 80cms and fit in another 2 runs at 90cms to do the area eventing, do loads at 90cms and maybe a BE100 height at the end... but I just couldn't get out due to lameness, bad timing with other competitions, and other random annoying things! Coupled with the fact that I struggled to keep it all together until the xc (this has been my first season) meant that of the 3 80cms runs I've had, only gone clear xc once (that was a couple of weeks ago, and came 5th), but I think we're getting there!

I'm not going to whine but it's quite frustrating because my horse is a cracking schoolmaster so I've not got the excuse that he's green or whatever, more that ditzy rider needs to get her act together! I'd really like to finish the season with a 90 if possible, but we'll see. I'm awful at putting pressure on myself to be doing better and bigger things so when I have setbacks I really beat myself up!

My horse now has a lovely corn, so having a couple of weeks off and I'll see where we are. Hopefully I will be able to book a xc schooling session with a cracking confidence boosting instructor, get another run in at 80cms and then a west wilts HT at 90cms and possibly the tweseldown unaff in september at 90.

Can anyone tell me, if I wanted to- can I still do to tweseldown champs if I've not qualified? It looked like they were going to have a separate section or something?

:( :)

My season is not going how I planned at all. Sarnie did two OIs nicely then missed a couple of runs due to hard ground, we then tumbled in the 3* at Houghton resulting in 8 weeks off to recover, she will now do an ON before the season is over and new plans laid for next year. She is sadly retired from anything advanced level.

A horse Irode occasionally but didn't even own is exciting me hugely and now done 2 BE100s and 3 Novices relatively succesfully. Ground allowing we have plans for Novices nealy every other weekend until the season ends.

Rosie who I hoped to start BE thisyear hasn't really fulfilled my expectations and is more suited to show jumping and top class alrounder rather than advancing the eventing grades so is for sale. Therefore nothing as planned!

My season has been rubbish!!! Forgot how to ride x-c until I remembered how to kick, then my mare wasnt quite herself SJing and the dressage was as bad as usual no matter how much I work at it! She got diagnosed with Ulcers, got those sorted then the hard ground hit, then as I was worried about the ground forgot how to attack x-c again, then she got a bruised sole and had a month off. Still more hard ground so managed to get a run last weekend at a HT, so paid my BE membership for 4 runs, 1 withdrawl after SJ, 1 withdrawl, and 1 elimination x-c, 2 successful ones!!! Going for unaff and SJ next yr!!!!

What season?! :(

This time last year Hopalong was flying making PN feel good and schooling over some Nov fences. Plan was to spend winter 2010/2011 doing BSJA and SJ lessons at 1-1.10m then crack on with PN this year, ideally qualifying for the Scottish PN Champs at Hendersyde and having a crack at a "nice" Nov such as Strathallan...

However as you all know, that didn't happen thanks to Hopalong being lame since end of Sept 2010. :( :( :( Still don't know what vet will recommend going forward re: jumping and potential future eventing plans... at the moment I'd settle for being allowed to hoon around an intro on her next year.

We should all know by now not to make plans with our horses as they only find out about them and scupper them?! ;)

Mine never started. After being out of work for a few months I had to sell B in February so that was that :( I then aquired an ex-racehorse who I planned to get going for next year and then sell but we found someone who wanted him straight away so he has gone now as well so at this stage I don't now even have plans for next year but things change all the time so we shall see :)

Mine is going better that i thought it would, but not as well as i would like! My aim for this year was to complete at BE90, which we have done every time out this season and madam certainly isn't struggling at all with the height of the fences. But, we haven't gone clear in either SJ or XC yet, which i know we are more than capable of, certainly SJ. Plans for the rest of the season are Firle Place at the end of August followed (probably) by Munstead and Pulborough, with dressage and sj schooling/comps in between. I would like to have at least one clear before the end of the season!

Not quite to plan. I bought a lovely young horse who I thought was going to be a XC machine, and bold and brave. He is neither bold nor brave  but he is a total poppet and hopefully we'll get there eventually. I had planned to do a few BE90s and end the season with a BE100 or 2. As it turns out, we've done one unaff 80 with a stop apiece in SJ and XC, then a BE90 with a stop apiece in SJ and XC  then an unaff 90 with a clear SJ and 3 stops XC! Doh. Next season will hopefully be the season that this one was meant to be :) I'm just glad he is sound and well. I am enjoying myself, even if it isn't what I had planned, and that's what counts I guess!!

Touching wood frantically.... horses 2nd season BE...so we started with a 90 back in march to remind ourselves, then stepped up to 100, had a couple of great runs at kelsall & brigstock, then stepped down to a 90 because it was in my village & they didn't have a 100... then went out & did a 100 again at Upton House, had a really green stop at that silver & orage house, which then put us all wrong to the ditch & house, so after a stop there i retired...but they gave me an E :( off to cholmondeley, 2 stops at the water, so dissapointed but pleased as it wasn't the most inviting & he is still a bit spooky (esp when i stop concentrating!!)

off to Somerford next week.... & hope to do llanymynach & Broadway to finish the season, with the aim of going up to Novice next year... so will be SJ all winter & trying not to ruin him out hunting!!

had planned to get my 3yo out to some futurity/sports horse classes, but just ran out of time, so will be starting him over the winter & very very loosly thinking of a 4yo class mid summer.... but no idea what he'll be like although this was him at easter (i haven't sat on him since)

also planning to join no1 son in the pony club, so can see this winter vanishing as fast as the summer has!!

Well, what can I say! My season so far has been a dream season (maybe I really am dreaming) and could not have asked my amazing horse for anything more.

He was origionally bought for the riding school I keep him at as a 4 year old where It was soon realised he was too sharp for their use and probably too talented too so I bought him just turned 6, having rode and competed him until that point, although having never evented before. Had a good jump on him but still green and wobbly and dressage was not too great but had the ability to be good if he just settled. Spent much time working on this infact the poor boy only does flat work at home. Did a few 90's successfully and moved to 100 last year where he was placed most outings and 2nd at Be100 Scottish championships, only to come home lame and be off for the next 5months!

Started back in work at christmas, very fat and unfit took him to first 2events this year having not touched grass since beginning of last August so thrilled with 6th & 8th and then the season has just progressed from there. Did one more 100 at Auchinlech where he came 2nd before attempting first Novice at Richmond. Was praying for a clear xc and a dressage score below 40 never mind finishing 4th!! Floors next for our final 100 run, 2nd to Ruth Edge and the season has just continued from there - 3rd Hexham, 10th Cumwhinton, 8th Aske, 2nd Burgham (qualified for novice champs) and then last weekend we went to Hendersyde for the BE100 Scottish championships again and came away with 2nd and our best ever dressage of 26!

11 events and 10 placings with a 13th in the other! The only thing I could ask for now is our first win!! The boy soo deserves one!
A month off now and then 3 more chances at Hutton, Allerton and Aske so fingers crossed...... after 8 2nds he truely deserves one! He tries his his little socks off!

I would like to thank my boy for being such a super star and long may it continue. Never imagined I would ride at Novice never mind be getting placed!

Good luck for the rest of the season everyone!

Well my plans for this season had been to have another few PN runs and if things continued as they had last year Id do a couple of Novs with him. Then I had a fall at our first event of the year and put myself out of XC action for near 3 months ;) Started competing again 7 weeks ago and have done 4 events at PN, placed in 2, and been happily schooling round novice. Only have 2 events left this year, both PN as neither run Novs and the only ones close to me that are running Novs fall on weekends where I have to do non-horsey/work type things (typical!!!). So he will stay at PN this year and make the move up next season after a winter of BS (as we need most improvement in this phase!). Bit gutted things didnt go to plan but tbh Im having great fun hooning round PNs with him atm and its all experience, which doesnt do any harm ;)

No season has definitely not gone to plan. After qualifying for all RC champs last year I know it would be a tall order to repeat that but as long as I got to the horse trials champs then I would be happy. Well we did win the area qualifier only to be told a week later we had been disqualified, gutted!!!

Also wanted to carry on with doing PN & get really confident with it but our first run at Bishop Burton wasn't all that inspiring so decided to go back to intro. Did the Burghley PC ode & came 4th, great :D Thornton Watlass 6th, great :D. Beckwithshaw fell off in the showjumping, not so great. :o

Good points, she hasn't lost doing a really good dressage test & our XC is really getting back on track so just need to conquer the darn showjumping & I will finish the season happy, I think!!!!! LOL
