Eventa reins - which ones do I get?

I've heard that Eventa reins are really good, so I gave them a quick google hoping to invest in some. I thought the name 'Eventa' sounded like a trademark name of only one particular brand, but apparently not!

I'm looking for some dressage reins that can help me get a nice feel on the mouth, and help with my awful habit of letting the rein out a if the contact gets too firm. I need them to be very grippy, flexible and a bit 'stretchy' to help me keep a better outside rein...

Which brand should I go for?

I have the Jeffries ones and they are the only reins that have snapped on me in my riding life! So I'd say not them. They taper to a narrow bit just before the billet end. Very bad design.

I have some nice equipe ones which are rubber on the inside and plain on the outside I rather like them.

i love events reins and have a pair of sabre ones and also some Albion ones... both much of a muchness but both great reins. I've had them for 3 years now and as good as new.

Equus Eventa is the trademark of the smooth rubber and many brands sell their own reins covered in the rubber. You get what you pay for so the better, and therefore more expensive, makes tend to be longer lasting as better quality leather and manufacturing. I have the Harry Dabbs one and they've been used for past 5 years including eventing without an issue.

Hated the eventa reins, found them bulky & stiff.
Op have you seen / tried bio reins, soft flexible & grippy

Eek! I also have squidgy grippy Jeffries ones I bought a couple of years ago. There's no tapering and I really like them and have never had any problems, they are the only reins I ride in and are good as new. Do you think you might have had a faulty pair, or perhaps they have changed the design before/after I got mine. Reins snapping, it's the stuff of nightmares!

I had a pair of Harry Dabbs Eventa reins and loved them. They came to a very bad end when my daughter had an unscheduled dismount and the reins ended up in multiple pieces. How many times can a single horse stand on his reins?
