Eventa reins

I'm fed up with having my rubber reins re-covered every six months (or at least it feels like every six months...) because they've split again and am wondering about getting some Eventa reins.

Before I spend sixty quid, can anyone tell me how long they last? And can you get them re-covered?

I have a pair of kate negus reins which I use everyday and are as good as new - 3 years old this month. I bought a set of the jefferies ones about a year ago and they are find too. I love them both!

Pootler, 3 yrs is pretty good going ... I've had a feel of the Jeffries reins and was intrigued. They seemed quite floppy - I guess the leather doesn't go right through - is that right? How's the feel when you're actually riding?

My friend (also needs new reins!) has lupus and the joints of her fingers are often swollen and painful - I wonder if something like that would be really good for her. Thanks for the links.

My daughter and I both have the jeffries reins.
I have had mine over 3 years, ride most days and they are in tip top condition and I am not one fot tack cleaning.

Everyon ewho rides one of our comments how nice the reins are.
I have just bought a new blk dressage saddle and black bridle so will definately be gettin gblk biogrip reins to go with it.

So if anyon eknow of anywhere with a sale on them let me know!

I've got Eventa ones. I like them as they're very flexible. I seem to have had them years, at least 3 but probably longer, and I use them nearly every day. No sign of wearing out yet either.

Thanks, everyone - think I'll definitely be getting some new reins now. I just have to decide which! (And wait to be paid... grrr, freelance life is crappy sometimes.) It's good to know that all the ones you've mentioned seem to last well.

i have the jeffries eventer ones, the floppy ones! and they are fab
they have a core running through them for strength, not sure exactly whats its made of, but it isnt just the floppy rubber
i love riding in them, super grippy, and just wonderful!!

I'll sell you my Jeffries Eventas! I cannot get to grips with them (pun intended!), I had Jeffries Bio Grips before and much preferred them. Only changed them as I had a new saddle in black and bridle was brown.

I have just bough Jeffries Bio Grip reins - they are really good!

Jeffries biogrip are great, I won't ride with anything else now

PS - Townfields do a cheaper knock off version that are pretty much identiacal!

I have Equus Eventa reins, had them nearly 5 years!!! They are still going strong. They were £40.
I love how soft they are, plus they have fantastic grip (even thought they look smooth!).

Would definately recommend them.

I have Sabre Eventa reins, use them for all riding, but noticed that the grooves are starting to wear flat (one year of daily use, one year of intermittent use due to broken horsey). Having said that, it doesn't seem to be a problem.
