I currently have a pair of very cheap and cheerful Regent leather boots which I used to compete in, but have now taken to wearing every day. I am petrified that the zips are going to bust soon and leave me without any comp boots, so am looking for another pair...

I mentioned Sergio Grasso boots to someone and they said 'oh show-jumper boots':D So just wondering what eventers wear please :D

Aaaargh - thank you very much for the reply, but I have a horrible feeling I cant fit my fat legs into Ariats :o

.....runs to find tape measure......

I have trouble with my legs, they are slightly on the chubby side! lol. Went to Blenhiem this year and bought some Ariat short boots and some leather gaiters from equitector, they fit fab. Im sure you could find ones to fit. They were a good price too, less than the Ariat gaitors. www.equitector.com Good Luck

i would call myself an 'average amature eventer' rather than an eventer, as alone that may imply that i am any good... ;) and i have sergio grasso boots for comps, i have had them for 8yrs and they are still going strong!!

I have Sarm Hippique long boots which are lovely and comfy, but am coveting De Niro tan long boots as they are gorgeous with a tweed jacket!! Think I may need to splash out before the new season.

I event and have sergios- I have a pair for schooling at home that are tatty and exhausted and a nice pair for competing. whoever said they were for sj are just jealous!! I also have a pair of ariat devon short boots and sergio gaiters that are about 5yrs old but are worn everyday. but new they look very smart so you could easily compete in them as they look like a long boot

I do everything (dressage, show jumping and eventing) and have a pair of Sergios, had them 7 years!

Just bought a pair of Broginis to replace them as they are a bit tatty now.

I would say buy whatever fits best and is affordable to you! Who gives a monkeys if they are meant to be 'sj' or 'eventer' long boots as long as they are comfortable!

I have a very short leg and wide calves and found that the Sarm Hippique 500 (previously knownan Regali Richhi boots) were the only make that fitted me.

It will be try and see I would think - it would be best if you could try as many makes as poss (many trips around many tack shops!) to find the best ones for you...
