I know many eventers on here dont mind it - but I hate it!! I much prefer dressage and XC!!

But after 2 horses and BSJA registration this winter im hoping to like it a bit more! Will let you know in March !!!!

I know that it all comes down to practice, but I'm much more nervous before SJ than before XC.
Maybe if I practice all winter this will go away.

I find Sj like maths - I practice but its not fun and there are so many things to think about but its important.

i hate it at BE because it matters so flipping much... you'll prob never get the chance to run that horse at that event at that level again. i can remember just about every flippin fence i've had down BE over the years, esp the ones that cost me events. when i go BSJA, i really don't mind so much... there's always another class, or i can go again the next week. very big difference.

Oh God I hate showjumping! I don't understand how I can be more confident over fixed fences - where I could get hurt! SJ is rubbish - but eventing wouldn't be eventing without it!!

I am firmly in the "hate it" camp - I'd much rather risk life and limb leaping over huge fixed fences than face a 2.9 SJ course.

I think its because I know its our weak phase as the boy is quite happy to jump coloured poles just is not careful with his feet.

That is why we are ignoring all the lovely autumn HT/XC comps and schooling and focusing on SJ only [sob]. Am out every wednesday at the local indoor SJ centre and most weekends as well. (Still, not all bad was SJ'ing yesterday and came 5th in my class)

well i like it when i have had a good round, but as my mare is not always the most careful...its harder to enjoy im sure!

I wish they would run events without the SJ AND the dressage...!!
Suppose technically that would be called a hunter trial though...

...Bring on affiliated hunter trials!!

I enjoy the sj at events. I dont enjoy pure sj if you have a pole down it feels like a waste of time making he effort to go!!
Tbh mostof the horses I've competed hae been pretty reliable jumpers, I may enjoy it less on something that didnt pick its feet up!!

yeh i think i would def enjoy it more if i had a horse which paid more attention sj!!

anyone want her? hehe
