I haven't been to Stafford, but Belmont is a nice easy course. Not very interesting, & quite short. A nice event, lots going on, trade stands etc. but that does mean quite a few distractions.
i did belmont park (bristol) intro last year, was a nice well org event, xc was nice and kind no traps but i found it wasnt a straight galloping course was a little twisty, n picked my line also, the pn and novice courses i think followed a similar course, is gr8 for spectators (so my mum said) Im sorry didnt do other on so cant help with that, hope it helps a bit, there is a web site called eventingworldwide that has pics of some events and reports on them,
Stafford is a nice event - there is a webcam of the course if you look at previous posts on this site - maybe last friday or sat.. It is very straightforward ... uphill at start and finish ..orgabisers very pleasany and helpful
I wouldn't rush to do Belmont. The XC course is twisty and dull, the showjumping is built on the side of a hill, the show jumps are also very old and tired looking (The Hand got rid off them about 6 years ago).
If you click on the link in my siggy there is some video of Belmont.
I have not been to Stafford but Belmont is a nice easy course for early on in the season, very short too so horses do not need to be over fit. If it rains the carpark can get boggy but the course always seams to hold out!
Not been to Stafford. Belmont is a lovely first timers course, and great for an early event. Just don't been mislead by the "Park" - its a very ordinary boring setting (on a slope!) and the xc twists (A LOT) through two fields.
Stafford is a lovely event, lovely flat ground for dressage and Sjing, and the XC is nice, a big uphill pull on the way home though, so horses need to be fit! However, they do ballot heavily as is very popular!! The ground has been perfect the 2 times I have been.
