Well another "pleased with my pony report"
tongue.gif

Went and braved the arctic conditions at Vale View today to do their eventers challege, sio a course of SJ's outside, straight indoors round a course of "XC" fences (like JAS)! Walked the course, was a bit nervous, as Goddy hadnt seen angled rails/arrowheads/corners at all since last year. Also have a "trakehner" with a black water tray under it, so asked a few questions. Warmed up well, had new boots on which I realised was a HUGE mistake when have never ridden properly in them, never mind jumped! SO was struggling with circulation in legs once got to my round....

Went in, and muppet here had appalling line to first fence, and G just towed me straight past it

Not a good start! Anyway, pulled myself together, flew round the SJing, to have one down.

Wandered into the indoor arena, and set off, and he was great, flew round, felt sooo fast, but actually looking at the vid was about perfect, had one down as I handbraked him into it, but made all the distances, no silly little strides, managed the angled rails without a wiggle, was straight over the arrow head, jumped the last roll top and got towed straight out the arena!

Finished well within the time, and came 9th overall, so a nice rossette for the boy, and very pleased since the likes of Izzy Laurance and Phoebe Buckley were in my class

Will post vid up shortly....thanks for reading

Forgot to add, he has also managed to sort out his canter so no disunited-ness, and we even know how to do perfect flying changes
tongue.gif
Unfortunately they are self taught, so I cant take any credit

Great actually, made them all on spot on strides, we had a wobble at one of the Sjing ones, but kicked in the middle and he made one stride. The XC ones, he made the distances easily on all the related distances, even on the angled rails which I would expect him to chip at

Yeah Phoebe had 4 in our class

WoooooooHooooooooooooooo, well done Kat and Goddy

Sounds just what the doctor ordered for him, especially as he was making the distances, that's great.

Now all it need's is for someone to sort out pilot errors and you'll be looking to win everything!!

MH - the opposite is true for mine too! The more the better, and the more outings the better - he's off to do two dressage tests tomorrow!

Just don't put too much pressure on yourself - it's taken me 2 years, with a very scopy horse, to be able to leave all the poles up and to learn how to ride him! It doesn't matter if he's not going clear yet, it;s all good experience and he's learning from it. Good luck!

Lol! We still have to contend with dangly leg hitting pole syndrome occasionally, I'm not to be blamed about that!
tongue.gif
Just go a bit tougher with him about making him go when I tell him, makes all the difference, and he seems more confident.

I think Boo will be exactly the same if its any consolation, he seems to get more and more confident after an outing, plus, he too has dangly legs
crazy.gif
Just put in my entry for Bath & West today, haven't even done any xc practise yet!

Well done, love the vid.

Never seen that class in the flesh at VV so nice to see it in "real life". A long course to remember, and I appreciate that's only the xc bit, quite technical too....Shadow would have a heart attack

Thanks
smile.gif
Yeah I thought it would be a bugger to remember, but I have the WORST memory in th world and managed it! The Sjing was quite easy, a nice big figure of 8, and the XC flowed well. Was good.
