I have groomed at masses of one days - but this season I hopefully will be "travelling" to a couple more prestigeous 'away' events!!!
For me - Apart from the obvious away for up to 5 days amount of clothes, wet weather clothes and sun protection, PJs, suitable footwear, what else might I need to add on my
list???

Your thoughts please.

pushbike
rucksack
spare mobile battery should you not have a power source to recharge
suncream
paracetamol/other first aid/ladies stuff

sewing cotton for sewing numbers onto saddlecloths. (plaiting thread's a bit bulky).
torch.
wetwipes in case the showers are disgusting. (!) ewww.
bicycle with lock.

camp-bed maybe?

Flip flops for showers!! Facewipes in case you dont have hot water for washing face lol in the lorry.

Something a bit smarter - nice top for the cocktail party and disco evening!

I have done so many 3DE's now i absolutely love them, did 5 is 6 weeks last year - lots of packing and unpacking and quick change overs but great fun, especially when your horses do well!

Its the reverse rule of holiday packing-instead of putting all the clothes you think you need in your suitcase and then taking half out,put all the clothes you might need in and double it (pants and socks especially so!) Other than that, stuff I tended to forget were things like phone charger and alarm clock, also a really thick duvet is always nice as the lorry can get quite chilly!

Def the wipes, smelly stuff to cover odour de horse, flip flops, little mirror, if long hair think about putting it up to make it look nice if you rely on straighteners! and some nice tops to wear to evening parties. Radio with batteries for the stable block, duct tape and a permanent marker so you can tape and write number onto headcollar and supplied numbers can be left on bridles instead of doing loadsa swaps. Good book as there can be boring time esp if your horse is good to graze and you can sit.

Again the wipes! As showers weren't up & running at Weston to start with well they had about 3 working for alot of people!!
Also string/twine for tying thing up in stable! Can not have enough string! Plenty of change of clothes for all conditions from artic, rainforest storms, to desert heat!!
Basically anything that makes your life easier!

Talc for when it's hot and you can't squeeze into your joddies!

Plenty of water, preferably drinking so you can clean your teeth in it. A water butt with tap is so much easier to clean your teeth via.

A wee bucket in case the loos are a mile away, anyway, they tend to get a bit pongy after a few days so you'll be glad of your own bucket!

Plenty of loo roll for all the little mishaps and for when the tardis-toilets have run out!

Plenty of stable rugs for the horse which double up as bedding for you.

As many cold drinks as you can find and float them in a bucket of water left in the shade. Soft drinks are really expensive at shows! Likewise take choccies and crisps for when you don't have time to get proper grub.

Throwaway BBQ good for the first night, if you've got a fridge you can eat well every night

Hi

You need lots of changes of clothes, you need smarter jeans/top/nice shoes for any parties i the evenings. Other essentials are:

* torch (with spare batteries)
* as many coats as you can! (you never know, if it rains and they get soaked through they are difficult to dry in even the best lorries)
* spare shoes (old trainers incase of need!)
* Snack food/drinks.
* shampoo/shower gel etc etc etc (remember, you wont be able to buy personal essentials at the event!)
* pillow, sleeping bag and duvet (I always had both, it makes it warmer and more cosy in the lorry!)
* plastic bags for separating your used clothes.

Have fun!

Oh yes, I forgot, flip flops are essential! Especially as the showers in the good centres are often really nice but in others they aren't so nice!!

At the nationals once, there were really good separate cubicles so it was great, there was water on the floor so flip flops were really good to have!
