approximatley £55k for a 6 yo warmblood with no TB in three generations? Cos that's what was paid for this horse: click on 01 Quintus Watching his video I wonder if his action could be detrimental to his joint health later in life. I don't know enough about these things.

Do you think something like this would work in the UK? And that we would be able to command similar prices - ie. top price £55k, average price £16k? Or are we just not clever enough at selling?

Well, the sire line is full of top SJ'ers, so if he fails to make it as an eventer (he looks from the video as if he's already competing at 3*+

) then he'd probably make the money it that sphere

Tis true! But many have a nasty habit of forgetting how to show-jump properly after haring round events for a few years! The xc in the vid wasn't that bad.... think you're being wussy cos they're solid! When I used to get the heebiejeebies about an xc fence my mum used to say "now make it into a showjump", and it really works, makes things look so much smaller. I do it automaticly now

Mums do say sensible stuff sometimes...

WOW what a gallop!! very gangley kinda horse isnt he.

Not sure i would pay that sort of money - actually I wouldnt pay that sort of money!!

Does seem a tad expensive cos unless its gonna win the grand slam you'd be hard pushed to get your money back on a event horse unless he goes back to sjing.

LOL! I've read and reread your reply and I can't quite understand what you're saying in the phrase :-

Are you saying that it isn't a 3*+ XC, or something else

I'm not an eventer (as you know
tongue.gif
) so was just going by the height of the fences !?

Just watched it again, I wonder if the white boots make his action look more exaggerated than it is?

It's not that money like that doesn't change hands for eventers, but I was thinking more of the fuss there would be if an eventer's auction was held here and prices like that were being thrown around!

Tbh you can't actually see much of the fences at all in the vid, however you have to remember that at the lowest international level - * - max height is 110cm, and the highest - 4* - it is 120cm. So not a vast amount of difference, it's the technicality really. Also, brush doesn't count! If it's solid brush the max height is 140cm at all levels, and if it's "soft" brush there is no max height. Does that help?

Ah, okay, I thought it looked about 1.15m / 1.20m but take your point about the brush

Still a very nice horse though....and what a shame they decided to event it

I wouldnt have said that was higher than 2 star tbh! although could obviously be wrong, the horse doesnt seem to be REALLY putting in effort! unless its effortless for him lol and not sure of the rules but arnt 6 year old unable to do 3 star?

Yeah, I just watched it again....the first fence you see it jumping is bigger (but there is brush in it lol!), the next fence you can't see at all, and the third fence looks like a fairly small log combo actually.

He eats the ground though (for a WB
wink.gif
)don't you think ? Anyone recognise the rider ?

The rider's not wearing a number bib so I'm sure it was taken just to go on the website at a training venue or something. They don't have results up for each individual horse so you have no way of knowing what it's done yet! Most horses can make 120 look effortless anyway.

They have a list of the riders they used to show them off on the website. The only name I recognised was Linda Algottson's.

Hehe...I know....so does mine...but then as i'm always saying, Selle Francais isn't really like other WB's is it, and Bo at least is very TB in his build and way of going
tongue.gif

Snoop's 4th generation is SF
smile.gif
so its french TB
wink.gif
his parents are both Trakheners so thats pretty much TB isnt it .....hehe

GAYLORD - christ
