Eventers - would you pay...

Yah it worked, thanks Rambo

I really like that horse and i agree it looks a lot more like a SJ and i reckon with those legs it coud probably do quite well at dressage.

Wouldn't pay £55,000 for it though but then again i wouldn't pay £55,000 for anything as i dont have that sort of cash LOL.

I thought that about the white boots too, that and the fact that he's leggy and short coupled makes it looks as if he moves oddly. He certainly looks very well balanced and scopey, and I love the way he shortens into the second fence - but £55k is a lot of money.

An average price of £16k doesn't sound over the top, particularly as I know of people who would pay £15k for nice 4yr olds from Irelands, or BYEH finalists.

Got rained on with first one, but not second! Nothing like yesterday though!

Nicky - it's just that it was at an auction, they managed that average with only 3 or 4 bein withdrawn (which I guess means they didn't make their reserve) which I can't see happening here.

Well, we were *thinking* about an Intro or maybe PN next year....but if he has a suspect tendon then I might not risk that now

I'm not sure he's brave enough to be honest (well, I KNOW i'm not lol!)....just can't imagine him jumping out of a gallop

I sniggered at that too! But these days you can't change a horse's name from what's on the passport

I liked the look of that Expo Sonderskov and Cyber Star...

You can register BE under a different name but your vet needs to make a note in passport saying horse competes under this name, thank god coz my neddie has a daft foreign name i cant pronounce!

Was that the sale where Polly Jackson bought one last year? It would be nice if we could get those kind of prices here but it just doesn't seem to happen does it? The three year old Red Arturo filly that I saw win at East of England (spectacular jump) didn't sell at 9k at Brightwells last week, even after a glowing write up in H&H the week before.

What's Bo's breeding then? Didn't know he was SF. I have a soft spot for them...

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL! He's not SF.......he's KWPN by virtue of his mother. His sire is Fuego Du Prelet who is SF though. This is 'dad' :-

http://www.team-nijhof.nl/site/html_uk/hengsten/fuegoduprelet.html

He has Pilot and Jasper on his dam line so a mix of Westfalian and KWPN there.

[/ QUOTE ]

Similar(ish) lines to my horse, his sire is little known but his grandsire is Quito de Baussy who is by Jalisco B. He was bred in belgium, presumably to SJ but doesn't respect a SJ much and is now eventing!!

Could not justify paying that for a horse but really liked it - lovelly ground covering stride. Would not bother me no TB in the breeding, my mare is totally warmblood although Dutch lines but she looks very TB - she probably hasn't got as nice a stride at that horse.

The rider's not wearing a number bib so I'm sure it was taken just to go on the website at a training venue or something. They don't have results up for each individual horse so you have no way of knowing what it's done yet! Most horses can make 120 look effortless anyway.

T_E, that video was taken at the young event horse champs in Germany, I forget the name now but one of the trak stallions I used to work with, his brother was there. Its VERY highly though of.

Well if i had £55k to spend, i'd buy it!!
What a stride!!
And after watching some (not all) of the other videos, i can see why he made top price!!
Also quite liked the look of "Winsor H".. anyone know what price he made?

He made 48000 euros, so about £37k, he was the thrid priced lot and has gone to spain....

I really do wonder if the top-priced lot will have problems from the knee down though, his stride seemed to come up very high.

Lovely, lovely horse. Calm and looked very rideable. That's the sort of money horses with scope go for. I thought he was super and I would want to try him SJing with that breeding.

Id never pay that price obviously but I guess if people want the horse and money is no object then any horse could go for a fortune!

Looks like a nice sweet natured horse, but not £55k's worth. And he only looks like he's doing novice level.
