mum went to work 7am this morning, everything fine. comes back at 9am and I here her shouting for me so rush downstairs like what the hell is going on and our collie x lab was just sitting there shaking, couldn't walk and was in so much pain :(

we carried him outside so he could go to the toilet and he was walking with his whole back end curled under, just looking into his eyes we could tell how much pain he was in.

Rushed him to the vets and he was shaking so so much in the car it was awful :( vet gave him strong pain killers and said we just have to wait because she couldnt tell if it was his knee or spine, or she said it could just be a trapped nerve. no walking him for a week, no getting on the sofas and no going up and downstairs which is impossible because you have to go upstairs to get into our house!

he's currently laying next to me completely out of it, breathing really fast but doesn't seem in pain.

our choc lab already had elbow displacia and will most defo have arthritis, we dont need another one!!

nope we thought vet would x ray straight away but she said wait to see if he gets better in a few days :/

my previous thread was about my other dog, what a strange bunch we have!!

Oops, sorry! I would be asking for an x-ray to be on the safe side. Nightmare that they are both out of sorts - do they play very hard or do a lot of jumping/exercise on hard surfaces?

will defo be asking for an x ray if he's not improved by tomorrow. well our choc lab had displacia because before we rescued him he was serverly over weight & most likely his breeding too.

lab x collie never had any problems at all, although we was a rescue so who knows what happened before we got him. lab rarely runs because he's bloody lazy!

this is a real shock because he dosent go mad when he goes out, runs around a bit on his own but thats about it. we walk them both twice a day for 30mins- an hour then they go out early morning and late night for toilet. they are both on vetvit joint suppliments too.

Would definitely be pushing for an x ray that's very sudden onset with a big problem.
Hope its a simple trapped nerve and tomorrow your doggy feels better- maybe have an mri done too.

we thought they would x ray straight away, very strange. we have no idea how he did it, was fine when my mum left at 7am but when she got back at 9am he couldn't move. I didn't hear anything from upstairs. literally have no idea.
I hope so too, thankyou x

he is a bit better today although thats probably the drugs- he just stares at us like "what the hell is going on" bless him :(
rang vet again and she said wait a couple more days, ugh!!

we dont reckon its spinal because if it was It would be a lot worse rather than better. when he walks we can hear clicking so guessing its some kind of joint problem
