Eventing 2025

What a star he is! Hope the dog's owner did more than apologise too. Noticed there's a comment on your fb page saying the dog went after another horse rider combo too..

Would be interested to know the legalities of who's responsible if something had happened to either of you given how long it took to be pulled up.

Yup read it went after a new starter instead 😳, I did enjoy the comments of banning the owner when I’m not sure that’s going to happen.

Me again! Well, I wasn't expecting to run at intermediate this season, but after entering the ON at Kelsall I discovered i couldn't do the Sunday, so decided that "if* Simon was perfect in both jumping phases at Cornbury I'd switch into the intermediate instead. And as the videos attest, he was more than perfect! So off we went...

Our usual bang average dressage for 34.8 - and then a really decent SJ round - just a rolled pole where he had a spook and I overrode a little bit. Was worried about the XC as it seemed a bit massive - walked it with a 5* rider we occasionally have lessons with who has a no nonsense approach which helped me out mentally...

Well, this horse really is a star. He jumped round trying his absolute best to stay between the flags and we worked our way around the course - not always beautifully, but always straight and honest and put a clear round on the board. Turns out my section had only a 50% clear rate, so managed to finish 8th of 31 starters so we got a rosette for our efforts too.

No horse I'd rather be sat on galloping down to a big table. And he does all the jumping in a plain snaffle, no martingale - the easiest happiest boy.

I was entered for another open novice in two weeks time, but it was more of a back up in case I didn't run or we had a bad time. Since he was brilliant I'll call time on the season here. Just 7 runs, but top-10 in 6 of them, clear XC in all his starts, clear or 1 pole in all his SJ rounds and dressage between 33 and 35.2 each time - such a dependable chap - and he made intermediate feel easier this time than he did last year - tweaked a few things and think we've really got him in a good place. Bring on 2026 😂

He’s one in a million RF!
He's pretty special isn't he. A very cool horse hiding inside a not particularly inspiring first impression haha. Wish I could find a few more hidden gems like him.

I just counted through our BE record together - that was our 72nd BE affiliated XC round together. He's so tough and sound and it's just so lovely to know a horse completely inside out like that.

(And to every single "I want an event horse but 'no TBs' because they're mad/can't SJ/won't stay sound" person - I think you're completely and utterly wrong, hahaha)

As do I, but what do we know, eh? 😏

I think the pair of you are missing the point, the more people who have daft beliefs like that make the good horses cheaper for the sensible people who dont hold such ridiculous prejudices. I love mares, so every person who says no mares, I thank them, they just mean more for me at a better price.

He is pretty special, but don’t do yourself a disservice, you have produced him to this point

He is just the coolest- well done to you for making such a nice horse, and for keeping him on the road for so long, let alone maintaining such an impressive record, because that is some feat in itself!

Wow, what a superstar! You both look fantastic, what a way to end the season ✈️🥳

Well done on a brilliant season RF. Love following you and Simon, I haven't managed to get mine out eventing this year but it's great to see a RoR out there showing how it's done.
