Eventing after PSD

My horse was diagnosed with PSD in his right hind in April. It was an acute injury, no holes or tears but 20% inflammation with a smal 2mm avulsion. He's been on a slow rehab plan and has his 3rd scan in 2 weeks at which point he will, hopefully, be allowed to start canter work. Previous to the diagnosis he was competing at BE80, about to step up to BE90.
I'm really really hoping he will get back to eventing, he absolutely loves it, as do I. So, I'm after any stories of experiences with returning to eventing after PSD - good or bad. Thanks

There is a psd discussion page on facebook it may be worth joining that as there will be lots of people with similar experiences.

It does seem that psd goes hand in hand with si/back issues so if you do end up with improvement on scans there are still issues higher up that may need assistance. I personally don't know many that rehab back to full strength, I guess all you can do is follow the plan and see how you get on.

I think the acute version is very different to the chronic (wear and tear) variety. It is becoming widely accepted that the chronic version is almost always secondary to a problem elsewhere and is caused by compensating whereas the acute version, once healed, has a better prognosis * as far as I understand from the reading/research I have done following my own experience with PSD *
