Or any other good books to do with horses (although not The Inheritance - cant really get in to that!)....

I've now read Pippas and WFPs - which would be a good one to read next? Mark Todd?

THanks - need to order it asap in order not to get bored when away

Being a total eventing geek i have just bought Mark Todd off amazon and am trying (and struggling) not to read it before hols! (the bits i have sneakily read before the OH hid it were very good

!) I have also pre-ordered Mary Kings autobiography .............

I have got Mary King's 'All the King's Horses' which tells the story of all her horses (mainly in the 90's). it is a really good book and has some fab photos in it - but it is a hard back so not ideal for holiday! But if you don't mind that i would definatly recommend it

Ian Stark has one all about his background etc The Stark Reality.
Ginny Elliot (Then Leng has one)
Zara Phillips

I have not read it. I expect it its the same old fawning tripe written by some Daily Mail reporter! It just came up on the list when I was looking for the name of the Ian Stark one.

I know it's not eventing but I was given Mick Fitzgerald's for Christmas and really enjoyed it.

Second the Lucinda Green ones!

Mark Todd's is great, Leslie Law's is a waste of paper and dull, WFPs is a bit TMI in places but hugely entertaining, Pippa Funnell's was ok I guess but nothing amazing.

I want some more of the older generation of eventing ones - you know, when it was possible to buy a horse, go round a handful of novices, enter for Badminton, fall off XC and still get placed!

Ginny Elliot/Leng and Lucinda Green's are on my wish list.

Hello! Where u off 2 now then??(lucky girl).I cud write a good book on my life with horses for you,wud defo be some funnies in there!!(and spelling mistakes hehehe).

Certainly not Zara's one - truely awful. Written by some journalist who doesnt even really know her!!! I didnt manage to get through it & I am an avid reader & eventing geek!

Zara's biog is written by a "Royal" writer not a horsy one - he doesn't even spell burghley correctly which really bugged me. I struggled to the end through reluctance to be defeated, after a well-meaning aunt gave it to my daughter for Xmas. Someone should write a proper horsy one for Zara - if discretion wouldn't prevent any interesting stuff.

There was a real fashion at one point for doing "equibiographies" on successful horses - Charisma, Priceless, Murphy etc - which are good fun. Long out of print but probably still kicking around used. Some were written by their riders (or so they say

) but you'd have better luck searching by the horse, I suspect, since some were obviously written to order.

I have Lucinda Greens 'Up Up and Away' if you want to borrow it?... It's great and has lots of old ODE pics in it oh and 'THAT FENCE' on the cover, great read

Thanks for the offer! Being a non eventing geek, I have no idea what 'THAT FENCE' is??! Feel a bit silly now

I should be ok now - I've ordered Mark Todd, and also Regal Reem (is that spelt right?

) No idea what its about, but it had Lucinda Green and a horse on the front, so thought it would do nicely

Funnily enough, I've just finished re-reading the Regal Realm one which I've had since it first came out
blush.gif
It's still a good read, although obviously very dated now - LG is still a newly-wed with DG when it was published

Thank you! I have Pippa but the others would be good.

I'm all out on autobiographies but can do "The Horse Dancer" if you like fiction?
