I would love to know the outcome of this survey! My boy has never had shoes on (he is 10) and we are looking to have our first go at competing this summer.... would be interesting to find out how people get on barefoot

I have done BD and BS, but have not been out eventing at the time of being barefoot. Had one that could ave, but can't do the survey.

Agreed. I also prefer them barefoot to keep the legs sound. Also provides better traction on roads.

I was listening to a podcast years ago where Buck Davidson said that his horses don’t “earn” their shoes until they are competing at least preliminary (US). I’m sure it depends on regional soil differences but I thought that was an interesting comment.
