Just wondering what boots you'd suggest for taking a young horse eventing?

He currently wears brushing boots on his front all the time and exercise bandages on hind when being lunged but feel he will need more protection especially xc :)

Thanks :)

Al rates her Dalmars for Reg, he's had them since she started XC on him and they're really good. They fit him well, don't rub and offer good protection.

Thank-you, they sound very good-will look into it although in the meantime will need some that I can buy at tack shops as unorganised me needs them for sunday :o

Should I be looking for actual xc boots or is there any other types I could get away with?!

I like my premier equine ones, go small enough to fit his short legs, fit well, dont rub and they actually hold up to the lifetime gaurantee on the strike guards, I just got a brand new pair after he bashed his for free and didnt even have to pay postage! :D

If you intend to do a lot of XC I'd invest in some proper high-protection boots, especially as he's young and still learning. If you were only rarely going to do it then perhaps you could get away with brushing boots, but they don't really offer the right amount of protetion for solid obstacles.
My mare has Premier Equine air cooled eventing boots and I'm really impressed with them, they keep her legs really cool, fit really nicely and are SO tough! The strike guards are rock hard but without being at all restrictive. Really recommend those. They post everything fast too so you might get them in time if you ring up & request it, their customer service is fab.
Prolite boots are supposed to be very good too but pricier.

I'd also personally pop some over reach boots on just incase x
