Just have a few queries and questions!

Where would be the best places to look for the above positions.

What positions would you be looking for if you was looking to work for a well ish known event rider wanted to travel to the likes of Badminton Burghley etc, work with other grooms but also live in if a while away or live out if within 30mins drive unlikely!!! Somewhere that would take 2 of your own horses (also unlikey I know!!) And have the chance to compete alongside them get instruction etc as well as grooming for them and all yard duties etc.

Also do you have to have qulifications, or could the fact that you are a good competant rider help?

Any help appreciated!!

Is there a website or anything?

Youre basically asking about a working pupil placement.

Some places would expect YOU to pay them, if you take your horses with you, they will train you, help you at events etc

When i was looking into this a fair few years ago (after leaving college) it was going to cost my parents money.

Very similar now, YOs son is a WP for a very well known SJing lady in Germany but he has to pay to be there, even tho he works his butt off riding their horses, going to shows and having instruction... he still mucks out 9 a day, rakes the school, takes ppl to shows grooming for them as well as competing at very high level himself with his two horses (hes just been picked to go on the GB nations cup team).
So even at that level they are expected to pay.

I had a very good set up with my old boss, i was a WP, paid £40 a week, lived out, worked 5.5 days a week, and had my own horse there who was cared for whilst i was on holiday or day off.

Having your own horses there and working is very hard, i had to always work my horses at the last yard i worked at, after i had done a full days work! that meant tacking up mine around 8pm after doing a 12 hour day already!

Many event rider adverts ask for *no horses or dogs* those who allow you to bring your own horse will expect a lot more.

M & M charge livery but also you still get the 'very small wage'...which IS small! Training e.t.c is free though.

If you're a decent rider, which you probs fit that category they will let you school some of theirs too.

Sounds like a good idea, they have a guy there as a WP who has two of his own horses there

Try Polly Williamson- she took me in as a WP with two horses. Was charged a reasonable amount for the second horse. She is an excellent trainer.
