I was going to enter Holdenby PN to finish the season, but I know that last year it was cancelled due to wet conditions.

I know that anything can happen between now and then (who knows we might even get an Indian Summer - yeah right!) but although it's much closer to me I'm a bit worried that it's a likely one to cancel if it stays wet.

I don't know the course at all and was wondering if anyone knows if I am more likely to get a run if I enter Pulborough or Oasby instead? Or would I just be in a similar boat do you think? Any advice gratefully received

I don't know about the others but Pulborough ballot was yesterday and they're still open. It's a lovely event and a nice track to end the season with. It's quite flat but drains well, they open for schooling most of the year and i've been there in very wet conditions and they've been open...i think it's take quite a bit for them to cancel

It seems that last year they held Holdenby at Oasby (Holdenby was scheduled a week later, which is how it falls this year as well). That says a lot about the ground conditions at Oasby.
I wonder if that will be considered this year too if they have to cancel - that would be wonderful, I could enter safe in the knowledge that there's a 'back-up'! No way of knowing I suppose.

Just realised I'm being extremely stupid as I've already entered a sponsored ride (other horse) the same weekend as Oasby and Pulborough. Whoops! Really want to do that with her as there's 60 optional jumps, all small, and I think it will be such good education for her.

So it looks like I will have to take the risk on Holdenby. You never know - maybe the same will happen as last year.

Thanks all for your advice though, much appreciated, shame I'm such a numpty though!!

FYI - Holdenby wasn't re routed to Oasby because of ground conditions it was because of the foot and mouth problems. The land owners at Holdenby have livestock and didn't want to take the risk!!
