Hi
I would like to start doing some eventing with Murphy next year. Could anyone talk me through the basics of what we need to be able to do and jump and where you start?

Thanks!!

J

Try & get to any eventing clinics near you they are great for setting you up for the season.

You should be able to do a prelim stressage test jump a 3' XC & 3' SJ comfortabley.

Good luck.

LOL @ stressage - Im afraid as far as thats conceren I am a complete novice - what IS a prelim stressage test?

Can I get one to look at from somewhere?

Several competition places near me start doing pre-eventing competitions in February which is a dressage test and show jumping. I find this great pre season training and it will give you a good idea if you and your horse are ready. They are run under BE rules including BE dressage tests and jumping requirements. Maybe worth having a look to see if anywhere near you does a similar thing.

As most peeps have said start with doing some prelim dressage, the hard tests ie 10 above, then go and doing as much sj as possible 3 plus, differennt venues the better, then you need to go jump as many different xc country course as possible and of course hunt aswell just to make sure you have the grrrr.............. factor
Basically you need to be confindent and getting above 65% unaffill dressage - prelim tests, and doing clears on xc and sj -3ft plus. It costs alot to enter BE, so you want to be sure your going compete competition.
But you just need lot of different course, venues and get a good trainer aswell, good luck. It's great fun but hard work

Thanks guys - sounds like fun anyway - I dont mind the hard work end
