I have just started eventing my mare and previously rode her in an event saddle I have now swapped the event saddle for a Albion GP as she didn't go well in the close contact saddles.

Does anybody else event in a GP saddle or do you think it's necessary to get an eventing saddle ..

I rode in a gp until I started Novice, it was fine :) in fact, I think I rode better in that than the first jumping saddle I bought. if the horse is happy and you can be effective, it really shouldn't matter!

I event in a jumping/event saddle at present... even the dressage stage, before my current boy I had a GP which I rode in for everything too.
I am looking at a dressage/VSD saddle, but my boy goes well on the flat in his jumping saddle so I'm not really that bothered if I don't manage to find one that fits him and me.
Whatever works for you! I do think though at the higher levels (as mentioned by milliepops) a more forward cut jump/event saddle is often preferred, but it's up to the rider and the horse! :)

I evented in my GP. Wouldn't even cross my mind to get anything else unless I felt I couldn't ride as well in it for the dressage, or I didn't feel secure enough for XC..
