For those of you who are eventers or just fans, this is a reminder that Mondial Le Lion D'Angers, for 6 and 7 year old horses, takes place during the weekend of 20-23rd October.

It is a fantastic venue and a great opportunity to enjoy the delightful Pays de la Loire. Cheapest Ferry crossing in Newhaven-Dieppe but all of the channel ports in Normandy are just 3-4 hours easy autoroute drive away.

Flights from London City Airport to Angers. Lots of lovely Chateaux and gardens for non-horsey friends.

So ends my Tourist Blog.

Sounds great, felt I had to reply as no one else has. I am so tempted to go and watch .(though it would be a cold day in hell before I flew from london city airport. I like loooong runways)

Sounds nice but after WEG we decided never to go to a French organised event again!!

We were at WEG with friends from Washington DC who came all the way to France to join us. The 3-day event was a catastrophe a 5.00am start and we nearly missed the cross country.

We have been attending Le Lion for 10 years - it is brilliant. They should have held the WEG 3 day event at this location. Worry not parking is easy, close by and free. Excellent traffic management.

beautiful area to visit, for a trip away, the old town and setting are a real getaway from everyday life, although a longish drive down passing through some lovely areas.

Is the weather warm? We had 1 hour of drizzle this morning our first rain for 7 weeks. Actually it has been unusually hot for a long period with temps over 30 deg.

Weather is usually very pleasant well into November. The climate of Angers is known for being mild - the Doucer Angevine. It could rain after this long dry spell though.

Here is the link. There is an English page

Ooo tempting. I went to Pau in 2014 and had a ball (including course walk with Yogi as he heard us speaking English and invited us!)

It was deliciously warm - we spent an afternoon on the beach in Biarritz; relaxed; just a brilliant week.

Glad I didn't go to WEG but Le Lion sounds a possibility however it is first weekend of half term so need to book quickly.

Yes, Food and drink is always good and not expensive either.

A few years ago we went to a side saddle dressage to music event at the same venue. we had lunch beforehand and regretted it as there was a superb lunch on offer on site, complete with Champagne Bar. By the way, the English girls did the best dressage but the French girls had the best frocks!!
