I went to the Pony club areas on sunday,
did a good dressage, 3 down SJ, but if i got clear and in time i'd come 3rd as it stood, so i set off XC on my very confident fast mare.
all was brilliant until fence 13, where i was held up behind a slow horse in front of me.
no stewards held the girl, or called me past and i didnt know when or if to pass, as it was on a twisty hilly part of the course.
on a wide part of the course, 6 fences later, i took over, thinking she has noticed i was behind. i got 8.8 time faults after it.
i found her after we finished and she told me she was goin the wrong way, and didnt even know i was there until i went past. i do not blame her, but i do feel ashamed of the fence judges and stewards, it seemed to me like a lack of communication.
i found the cheif steward and he told me they could not take off my time faults as i should have called through. but being pony club, id probably have been told off for that!
i was absolutlly gutted as with no time faults i would have been placed 3rd, and qualified for a place at the championships. with the faults i was 4th. i was so upset.
has this happends to anyone else?
and what would you do?
i feel like if this happend again, i would be a bit worried about calling through as i'd seem rude doing so!
thanks... sam

Sorry, you have to learn to call through! Just shout clear the course. It's not the fence judges/stewards job unless she is obstructing the jump, in which case they should clear it.

Put it down to experience and leArn to yell!!!

You need to shout "horse coming" extremely loud, the rule states that if you catch up with someone, they have to pull over. Better luck next time.

ohhh thanks guys.
yeah, about the qualifiying, normally first and 2nd teams qualify and 1st n 2nd induvidual, depending on how many entries are. but one of the individuals was in the team, so the qualification was passed down. gutted as it didnt matter about the tima faults till i realised i could have qualified.
yeah, boy have i learnt to yell through! just seems a bit rude thats all, but hey, need to learn to yell!!!
